Xin Guo 郭昕
I am an Assistant Professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I got my PhD degree from City University of Hong Kong in 2011, where I was working as a research fellow from Oct 2011 to Feb 2013. During Feb 2013 -- Aug 2014, I was working as a postdoctoral associate at Department of Statistical Science, Duke University. My research interests cover learning theory (kernel methods, stochastic gradient methods, support vector machine, pairwise learning, online learning, error analysis, sparsity analysis, and the implementation of algorithms), data science, and their applications to immunological bioinformatics, systems biology, and computational social science.
I was nominated twice as the Candidate for the Best Teacher Award of the department in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
I am a hobbyist programmer. I am in charge of the high-performance computing facilities (two 2-way and two 4-way fat nodes) of the department.
