About the Department


We, the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, are dedlicated to offer you effective ways and channels to facilitate your recruitment of the best candidates for permanent, part-time, temporary or summer internship positions.

 


The Department is one of the four departments in the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles. It has an establishment of 51 faculty members and 15 supporting staff. The Department contributes to the University by offering a broad range of academic programmes and the supervision of research student. In addition, we provide courses to various departments and faculties across the University, via service teaching.

The mission of our Department is to facilitate learning through excellent teaching and research in Applied Mathematics with leading expertise in optimization, optimal control, computational mathematics, applied statistics and actuarial science, financial mathematics and engineering mathematics.

Together with a 128-processor computer cluster with parallel computing capability, these computer facilities can efficiently help staff and students to conduct research on big data analysis and applied mathematics.


While the Mathematics Laboratories are equipped with up-to-date PCs with various software, laser/color printers, projectors and audio visual facilities to support the teaching of mathematics and statistics, the Department has also installed 8 Bloomberg terminals to allow staff and students to obtain updated financial data via the renowned Bloomberg Financial Information System.
