Introduction
The main research directions of the Applied Mathematics Department
are in the areas of operational research, optimization and optimal control,
statistics and actuarial science, and scientific computing.
While applied research is the main focus of the Department,
many staff members also carry out fundamental research.
The Department encourages interdisciplinary research as attested by the number
of joint research publications, joint research projects,
joint organization of conferences and workshops, and academic visitors.
