美国工业与应用数学学会2021年度奖项获奖人名单公布

7月,美国工业与应用数学学会(SIAM)在其官网公布了该学会2021年度各奖项获奖人名单,包括中国工业
与应用数学学会顾问委员会委员、布朗大学教授舒其望在内的18位杰出数学家获得殊荣。颁奖仪式在2021年
7月19日至23日线上举行的SIAM年会(AN21)上举行,SIAM年会通过特邀报告、获奖讲座、小型教程、主题

中国队获第62届IMO团体总分第一名,全员获金牌

第62届国际数学奥林匹克(IMO)于2021年7月14日至7月24日在俄罗斯圣彼得堡市举行。因疫情影响,
本届比赛的开幕式于2021年7月18日在线上举行,来自107个国家和地区的619名选手参加了此次比赛。

7月19日、20日为正式比赛日。经过两天的激烈角逐,中国队以总分208分获得团体第一名,领先第二名
俄罗斯队25分;全部六名参赛队员获得金牌并进入前20名,王一川获得本届大赛唯一满分。

7月6日至7月13日,中国国家队在北京大学进行了比赛前的集训和准备。北京大学北京国际数学研究中心
肖梁担任今年国家队的领队,兼任国家队教练。国家队教练组成员还包括华东师范大学瞿振华、南方科技
大学付云皓、中国科学院数学与系统科学研究院王彬、复旦大学姚一隽等老师。教练组周密部署,精心指
导,付出了大量的精力和辛劳。国家队队员们在赛前和赛场上沉着应战,稳扎稳打,最终取得了优秀的竞
赛成绩。

集训开始前,中国数学会理事长、北京大学北京国际数学研究中心主任田刚院士,中国数学会副理事长兼
秘书长巩馥洲教授,中国数学会副理事长、竞赛委员会主任彭联刚教授,北京大学数学科学学院院长陈大
岳教授、副院长兼党委副书记孙赵君等老师看望国家队,为参赛队员加油鼓劲。北京大学为本次竞赛做了
大量的准备工作。

祝贺中国数学奥林匹克国家队在今年的大赛中取得优异的成绩!祝愿中国数学的明天更加美好!

第一届全国信息通信数学及应用大会在烟台召开

7月30日上午,由中国工业与应用数学学会(CSIAM)、中国科学院数学与系统科学研究院、华为技术有限公
司、山东产业技术研究院、烟台市人民政府联合主办, CSIAM信息与通讯技术(ICT)领域的数学专业委员
会等联合承办的第一届“全国信息通信数学及应用大会”在山东烟台开幕。来自国内高校、科研院所的专家学
者、企业代表等400余人出席大会。中国工业与应用数学学会秘书长闫桂英研究员主持开幕式。

大会主席、CSIAM信息与通讯技术领域的数学专委会(筹)主任马志明院士首先致辞。他向大家介绍了本次
大会的召开背景、筹备过程和重要意义以及数学与信息和通讯的紧密关系,希望本次大会为学术界与产业界
搭建充分沟通的桥梁,促进数学在信息通信领域发挥重要的关键基础性作用。

山东省副省长、烟台市委书记傅明先在致辞中指出,数学是基础研究的最前沿,工业则是数学应用的重要阵
地。他希望学界与产业界共谋合作,携手开创数学研究应用与新兴产业发展的新局面。

中国工业与应用数学学会理事长张平文院士在致辞中指出,数学作为一门基础学科,重要性日益凸显,在国
家战略、人才培养等很多方面得到了国家的大力支持。作为数字经济的基础,信息通讯领域里有大量的数学
问题,需要我们在产业发展的过程中加强基础数学研究,促进创新链与产业链深度融合。

国家自然科学基金委数理学部主任江松院士表示,信息和通信技术的发展将深刻影响未来社会的发展,数学
在其中发挥的巨大关键作用将毋庸置疑。此次大会的召开将有力促进我国数学与信息通信领域的交叉和融合,
进一步推动应用数学的发展。

中国数学会理事长、北京大学田刚院士在致辞中强调,信息与数学密不可分,通信中的数学及数学在通信中
的应用都发挥着重要的作用。应用数学与基础数学一样对数学强国的发展至关重要。

大会主办方之一的山东产业技术研究院院长孙殿义指出,数学无处不在,它滋养着科学技术进步,奠定了人类
工程辉煌的基础。当今时代,科技创新发展要求更高,国家复兴任务更重,数学研究者们责无旁贷,任重道远。

北京邮电大学校长乔建永教授在讲话中谈到,信息通讯技术在工业革命进程中扮演了十分重要甚至核心的角色,
也带来了一些技术难题,相信本次大会将会为破解通信技术领域的卡脖子难题搭建起前所未有的崭新合作平台。

烟台大学校长段培永教授表示,本次大会必将为高校、科研院所、行业企业搭建信息通信数学应用交流与合作
的平台,助推数学研究成果的价值延伸,为信息技术迭代发展提供持续原动力。

本次大会为期三天,共举办30余场学术报告。报告内容聚焦数学及信息通信交叉前沿、产业需求以及战略发展;
郭雷院士就“智能系统理论”、西安交通大学徐宗本院士就“学习方法论”、管晓宏院士就“网络与智能时代的系
统工程”、彭实戈院士就“非线性期望框架下的概率统计方法”、王小云院士就“格密码”、加拿大皇家科学院罗
智泉院士就“5G网络性能优化”、华为公司董事、华为战略院院长徐文伟就“数学与产业对ICT创新的驱动”、
中国科学院战略咨询研究院潘教峰就“基础科学发展模式与机制体制创新”等主题作了大会报告。大会期间,还
召开了第一届CSIAM信息与通讯技术领域的数学专委会会议。此外,本次大会还设置了企业专场,就当前信息
通讯行业面临的机遇与挑战以及人工智能的发展前景进行了深入交流和探讨。

本次大会旨在为信息和通信技术以及应用数学领域的学者与产业界专家搭建高层次的学术交流平台,充分展示
信息通信数学及应用领域的最新理论与技术成果,探讨和发挥数学在信息和通讯技术领域的重要作用,加强学
界与产业界的交流与合作,促进多方的交叉融合与协同发展。

本次大会由国家数学与交叉科学中心、CSIAM信息与通讯技术领域的数学专业委员会以及烟台大学承办。

The 13th International Conference on Numerical Optimization and Numerical Linear Algebra will 
be held in the city of Emeishan, Sichuan Province, China, on August 10-13, 2021. This is the 
13th of the biennial conference series, with previous ones held in Qingdao (1997), Nanjing (1999), 
Dunhuang (2001), Guilin (2003), Lhasa (2005), Urumuqi (2007), Lijiang (2009), Xiamen (2011), 
Changchun (2013), Yanan (2015), Yinchuan (2017) and Shangrao (2019). The Conference will be 
organized by the State Key Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing, Institute of 
Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing, Academy of Mathematics and 
Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Southwest Jiaotong University. The sponsors 
of the conference include the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese

【招聘信息】Postdoc position at UCL on Mathematics of Deep Learning

The Department of Computer Science at University College London is inviting applications 
from excellent candidates for a three year Research Associate position starting in 
January 2022 in the EPSRC Programme Grant EP/V026259/1 on the “Mathematics of Deep Learning”
 (Maths4DL). Maths4DL is a joint programme run by the University of Bath, the University 
of Cambridge and the University College London, and the successful candidate will join 
a close knit team hosted by all three universities and led by Prof Chris Budd OBE 
and Dr Matthias Ehrhardt (Bath), Profs Carola Schoenlieb and Richard Nickl (Cambridge), 
and Profs Simon Arridge and Bangti Jin (UCL).

The salary will be in the range of  £36,028- £43,533  depending upon age and experience.

This is an exceptional opportunity to conduct ambitious research at the forefront of 
mathematics, statistics and machine learning. There are generous funds available for 
conference attendance, travel, computer equipment, training and career development.

The Vision and Ambition of Maths4DL is to develop a comprehensive mathematical, statistical 
and computational framework that addresses i) the foundational challenges on interpretability 
of the trained Deep Neural Networks (DNN), ii) robustness and generalisation of DNN on test data, 
iii) statistical confidence in DNN-outputs and iv) computational challenges with large-scale 
models and high-dimensional training data.

The three university team which the successful candidate will join, combines leading 
expertise in deep learning, interdisciplinary mathematics, statistics, Artificial Intelligence 
(AI), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), optimal transport, optimisation, environmental 
modelling, numerical analysis, geometric integration, scientific computing, image processing, 
probability, and inverse problems.

Duties of the research associate include developing and conducting individual and collaborative 
research objectives, proposals and projects as part of the overall work of the Maths4DL programme. 
The research associate must be able to communicate material of a technical nature and be able to 
build internal and external contacts. They may be asked to assist in the supervision of student 
projects, the development of student research skills, provide instruction and plan/deliver seminars 
relating to the research area of Maths4DL.

Applicants must have (or be about to receive) a PhD degree in mathematics or statistics (or a 
closely related discipline). The ideal candidates will be experienced in one or more of the 
following areas: inverse problems, machine learning, mathematical imaging, mathematical or 
computational analysis, optimisation and/or data science. Experience in programming is desirable 
(e.g. MATLAB / Python, Tensorflow / PyTorch).

Special Issue for 2020 International Workshop on Modern Optimization and Applications (MOA 2020)

The Journal of Global Optimization (JoGO) publishes carefully refereed papers that deal 
with all theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of global optimization. In addition 
to papers covering theory and algorithms of global optimization, JoGO also publishes 
important papers on numerical experiments and applications in engineering, management, 
and science. A special issue will be published for MOA 2020, which was a virtual workshop 
taking place from January 6 to February 9, 2021.

We cordially invite submissions of original research articles or survey papers on recent 
progress in global optimization and related areas to this special issue. The issue only 
accepts the following two types of submissions: submissions from the (online) participants 
of MOA 2020 and submissions invited by the editors. All the submitted manuscripts will 
go through a standard JoGO peer-review process. 

The topics of the special issue include but are not limited to:
