New AMS Prize: The Chevalley Prize in Lie Theory
来源:AMS网站
The Chevalley Prize in Lie Theory, established by George Lusztig,
recognizes notable work in Lie Theory published during the preceding
six years. The US$8000 prize will be awarded in even-numbered years,
with the first award being made in 2016.
Lusztig established the prize in 2014 to honor Claude Chevalley
(1909–1984), a founding member of the Bourbaki group. He made
fundamental contributions to class field theory, algebraic geometry,
and group theory. Chevalley’s three-volume treatise on Lie groups
served as standard reference for many decades. His classification
of semisimple groups over an arbitrary algebraically closed field
provides a link between Lie's theory of continuous groups and the
theory of finite groups, to the enormous enrichment of both subjects.
The Chevalley Prize in Lie Theory is awarded without restriction
on society membership, citizenship, or venue of publication. A
recipient should be at most 25 years past the PhD. The nomination
deadline for the 2016 prize is June 30, 2015.

of financial products such as mutual funds and hedge funds.
Programme Aims and Objectives
The primary aim of this programme is to produce graduates with a balanced and
practical training in operational research, risk analysis and statistical skills
and a thorough understanding of their applications in the world of modern
operational research and risk analysis.  The education is to develop students’
ability in quantitative analysis, critical thinking and communication skills which
will enable them to pursue a variety of careers related to operational research and
  risk analysis.
The secondary aim of the programme is to provide a solid theoretical foundation of
operational research, risk analysis and statistics to its students, who will then
be able to develop an outlook and powerful methodology that remains valuable in
whatever career they pursue in the fast moving world of business, commerce, financial
  industry, and insurance.
Career Prospects
Graduate would be able to pursue a variety of jobs related to operational research
and risk analysis, in areas such as logistics service providers, retail, banking,
