ICOSAHOM 2007 -- Call for Minisymposium proposals

7th International Conference on Spectral and High-Order Methods (ICOSAHOM'07)
June 18-22, 2007, Beijing
http://lsec.cc.ac.cn/~icosahom/

The 7th International Conference on Spectral and High Order Methods (ICOSAHOM)
will continue a tradition established through the organization of the 1st
ICOSAHOM by C. Canuto and A. Quarteroni in Como, Italy in 1989. This conference
continues to be a main conference venue where significant advances and new
applications of high-order accurate methods for solving PDE's are presented.

Conference themes include but are not limited to spectral methods, high-order
finite difference and finite element methods, h-p finite element methods,
discontinuous Galerkin methods, ENO/WENO methods, high-order methods for
integral equations, and wavelet based methods.

Applications include problems appearing in electromagnetics, fluid and
structural dynamics, climate modeling, inverse problems, efficient solvers
and preconditioners for high-order methods, efficient time-stepping techniques,
and parallel and computational aspects of spectral and high-
order methods.

An integral part of ICOSAHOM'04 will be topic-specific minisymposia, following
a tradition that encompasses all previous ICOSAHOM conferences. The purpose of
these minisymposia are several, e.g., presentation of new and exciting
developments within the scope of the conference, new areas of applications in
the sciences and engineering, and to emphasize areas of particular recent
activity and progress.

We now invite interested reseachers to submit extended abstract for papers and
minisymposia. The deadlines are

Dec 15, 2006 - Minisymposia topics
Jan 15, 2007 - Abstracts

Guidelines for this can be found on the conference webpage
http://lsec.cc.ac.cn/~icosahom/

Also, some funds are available for the partial support of students,
postdocs, young reseachers and underrepresented minorities to
attend the conference. Guidelines for applying for these can likewise
be found on the conference webpage.

July 3 - 5, 2006
National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan

As advances in computer hardware and software have drastically enhanced
the power of computation in recent years, computational science begins
to play an increasingly important, sometimes pivotal, role in science
research as well as engineering and medical applications in additional
to the traditional modi operandi rooted in theory and experiment. In
recognizing this trend, NCTS is sponsoring a school on modern numerical
methods and algorithms in math and physics for interested graduate
students and novices in the field. The topics include large scale matrix
computation, Monte Carlo method, Bayesian approach in curve fitting,
numerical gravity, and GRID computing.

Special Issue on Splitting Methods for Differential Equations

The International Journal of Computer Mathematics will publish a special
issue on SPLITTING METHODS FOR DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS.

Different splitting methods have played important roles in the numerical
solution of differential equations. Since the pioneer work on ADI and
exponential splitting formulae, many new concepts and strategies have

the new developments in the area. It will contain articles presenting the
latest trends and research results in topics including, but not limited to:

splitting for higher efficiency and accuracy
splitting for non-linear differential equations
stability and convergence of splitting methods
iterative and adaptive splitting methods
splitting methods in parallel and quantum computations

Research papers are solicited for this special issue. Each submitted paper

describe algorithmic steps, and discuss the numerical performance. The
book deals with both theory and algorithms of optimization concurrently.
It also contains an extensive bibliography. Finally, apart from its use
for teaching, Optimization Theory and Methods will be very beneficial
as a research reference.
