发刊词

计算与应用数学通讯(Computational and Applied Mathematics Digest) 的目的是为国内
外华人计算与应用数学工作者提供一个信息交流的园地。其特点是中英文兼用。为了方便
海外读者,我们同时也提供了相应的网页
这一网页将把每期的通讯,国内拟召开的会议、暑期班等讯息及时张贴在网上。

计算与应用数学通讯主要将包括下述内容:

. 学科领域里的一些重要信息,重要的获奖情况等;
. 学术问题讨论;
. 学术访问人员来往的信息;
. 人员流动,及新聘任的长江教授,特聘教授, 百人计划等等;
. 拟召开的会议信息 (主要在国内及港澳台的);

在发第一期通讯时,我们的数据库已有400 多个 Email 地址。如果您收到了第一期通
讯,说明我们已加了您的联系信息。如果您不希望再收到通讯,请及时告诉我们

如果您觉得这一通讯对您的同事或学生有帮助,请邀请他们加到我们的库里。最简单
加入的方法就是访问前面提到的网页。

这一通讯主要由中国计算数学学会管理,其秘书长将负责每两周一期的通讯。受计算数
学学会的委托,香港浸会大学的汤涛教授将负责前几个月的试发、试编工作,一旦通
讯的格式和稿源稳定后,现任秘书长中科院的严宁宁教授将接管本通讯。

最后,衷心希望大家能支持计算与应用数学通讯,并能给我们提供有意义的讯息。

在2002年12月全国计算数学理事会上代表们建议设立全国计算数学网页以便交流信息,
互通情况。这一建议,现在终于在香港浸会大学汤涛教授努力下实现了。这是计算数
学界的一件大好事, 特此祝贺!并向汤涛教授表示感谢。

希望国内外同行多多支持,并充分利用这一网络通讯园地,积极进行学术交流,会议
报道,书刊评述,问题讨论等各种形式的活动,促进我国计算数学事业进一步的发展,
赶超国际先进水平。

中国计算数学、科学工程计算正在逐渐国际化,这是时代的要求。为此,信息的传播、
相互的联系乃是当务之急。以我个人为例,我常常会感到自己的孤陋寡闻,需要不断
掌握新的信息,了解国内外最新动态,才能跟上时代的步伐。对年轻人更是如此。方
向的了解、问题的提出、方法的交流,都应该可以在这个通讯中得到帮助。所以我祝
贺这个《计算与应用数学通讯》的发行,并相信人人都会从中得益!

《信息与计算科学丛书》新的编委会及征稿启事

由科学出版社组织出版的《信息与计算科学丛书》于2004年9月12日在中科院计算
数学所召开了第一届编委会会议。该丛书的前身是由冯康先生于1978年任主编的
《计算方法丛书》,该丛书历经20多年的发展,出版了一批在学术界很有影响的专
著,对学科的发展起到了很好的推动作用。为了更好地适应新形势下学科的发展,
现将该丛书重新命名为《信息与计算科学丛书》,并建立了新的编委会,编委会名
单如下:

在这次编委会会议上,各位编委集思广益,对该丛书重新进行了定位,现将会议纪要
(摘要)公示如下。

1.丛书定位
本丛书定位为基础理论,强调内容的科学性、系统性,反映前沿工作,能够体现新
的研究方向。信息方面的著作要注重基础研究工作,有别于信息工程。每本书可以
介绍一种或相关的几种基本理论,要有别于本科生教材和方向较窄的学术成果专
著,兼顾研究生层次和高年级本科生,可供有志于从事信息与计算数学进一步研究
的学生作辅导教材之用。

2.读者对象
大学信息与计算科学专业的高年级本科生、研究生,从事信息与计算科学研究的
科技工作者。

3.编写要求
中、英文均可,亦可翻译国外的优秀图书。要避免作者已发表的论文的罗列,避免
过多的纯论述与证明,力求深入浅出,简明扼要,注重创新。篇幅不宜过长,字数
控制在20~40万字之间。

诚邀各位专家学者从百忙中抽出宝贵时间,将自己近年来的成果整理出来(或者向我
们推荐优秀的作者),为推动信息与计算科学学科的发展和培养学生出一份力。

科学出版社与国外很多出版社有密切的业务往来,一些优秀的学术著作也可以翻译
成英文在国外发行。相信通过我们的共同努力,会将这套丛书做成在国内外有较大
影响的著作系列。

韩厚德教授加入中国科技大学

清华大学韩厚德教授受聘为中国科学技术大学数学系兼职教授

2004年7月1日中国科学技术大学数学系举行受聘仪式,聘任清华大学数学系韩厚德教授
为该系兼职教授,聘期3年。

韩厚德教授是国内有限元领域的知名专家,在有限元方法、无限元方法、边界元方法及
无界区域上偏微分方程的数值解等领域中取得了一系列重要研究成果,发表学术论文100
多篇。1988年获国家教委科技进步二等奖,1995年获国家教委科技进步一等奖。韩厚德
教授将在中国科学技术大学指导博士研究生,并为本科生及研究生上专业基础课。他的
加入将会大大增强中国科学技术大学数学系计算数学专业的实力,并促进该学科的不断发展。

The Fourth International Workshop on Scientific Computing and Its Applications will
be held in Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China, June 20-23, 2005. The first
three workshops of the series were held at City U of Hong Kong in December 1998; Banff,
Alberta, Canada in May 2000 and City U of Hong Kong in January, 2003, respectively.

at the assistant professor level in all branches of computational
mathematics and scientific computing including but not restricted to numerical
