Doctor of Philosophy (2020)
Outstanding Young Alumni Award of PolyU Department of English and Communication (2025)

Hailing from the linguistically rich and diverse continent of Africa, Prof. Mark Nartey is passionate about exploring the dynamic relationship between language and society. From Ghana to Norway, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees before joining PolyU ’s Faculty of Humanities to pursue a PhD in the Department of English and Communication. Here, he gained deeper inspiration from the synergies among language, communication, history, culture, and technology, using his academic work to illuminate social issues such as ethnic diversity, gender equality, and social justice. Having returned to Hong Kong after some time in UK academia, this young alumni scholar is poised to carry forward the spirit of his alma mater, addressing social challenges in his field with determination and purpose.
