Facilitator: Dr Michael Botelho, Faculty of Dentistry, HKU
Date: 08 Feb 2018 Time: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Venue: TU411

Dr Botelho has been at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong since 1995 where he has been responsible for the learning of Prosthodontic clinical skills in the Simulation Laboratory. There he developed a flipped classroom approach where he used small group, problem-oriented, and collaborative learning activities to drive learning. In addition, he has developed over 100 online video resources to support student learning inside and predominantly outside of the classroom. These videos support students in different ways, for written assessments, clinical competence assessments and in the clinical care of patients.

He is now piloting a new video platform to make online learning more interactive. This presentation will feature a flipped classroom approach to teaching and learning in a clinical discipline, showcasing how this was created and implemented as well as the use of videos to support student learning.
