The University Health Service
provides primary health care services, nursing practices, dispensary and
laboratory services, health education and promotion, TCM service to full
time students, staff and their dependents, as well as retirees.

Primary health care consultations
and necessary medications are available through the campus clinic.
Cases that warrant further investigations/ specialists' care are referred
to various specialist clinics as either publicly or privately funded hospital
or medical centres.

Laboratory investigations
are available from the University Health Service at subsidised rate or
through private laboratories of patients' own choice.

Emergencies, dressings and
injections, etc. are dealt with at the Clinic daily from 8:45 a.m. to
5:35 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturdays.
For emergencies after
office hour it is recommended that the patients should make use of the
Accident and Emergency Departments of Hospital Authority or private
hospitals to avoid delay in treatment.
Immunizations:
Standard immunizations, when appropriate (e.g. Tetanus), form part of
the primary health care service. The clinic also holds various immunization
campaigns at various times of the year. Please check with announcements

Medical check-up for
students: The UHS provides various
checkup options for PolyU students at a concession rate commencing
September 1999.
SAMCUS (Staff Annual
Medical Check-Up Scheme): Our clinic also provides an Annual
Health Check Up Programme for University Regular Staff over
46 years old.
To facilitate the understanding
of health education message and to promote the concept of preventive medicine
in the context of primary health care, the University Health Service has
made available basic structured health education programmes for the University
community.
A number of health education
programs and health promotion activities are held throughout the year.
These include exhibitions, individual health counselling and specific
seminars. Please check with announcements from the clinic for details
of the coming events.
There are also a number
of posters, pamphlets and video show related to health
education, in addition to computer health education programs, in
the waiting room for reference.
For accidents
requiring urgent medical attention:
- During office
hours: Please contact the University Health Service (Tel.
No: 2766-5433 or 2766-4433) for advice. If the condition is
serious, please contact EO Security control at ext. 7999, or dial
999 for help to avoid delay in management.
- During non-office
hours: Please contact the Campus Security Control Centre
(Tel No: 2766-7999) at P111, or dial 999. We have at least two
fully trained First Aider on duty in our campus at all times.
