Paris Lau got his Ph D from the University of London. He held a licentiate diploma in violin performance from the Trinity College of Music (London) and was a part-time performer at the Music Office of Hong Kong in 1998-2000. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa in 2003-04. He has translated into Chinese Christopher Norris¡¦s Deconstruction: Theory and Practice (1995), Linda Hutcheon¡¦s The Politics of Postmodernism (1996) and Bill Ashcroft et al¡¦s The Empire Writes Back (1998). From 1998-2001, he wrote and published dance critiques for the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (APA) and the International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC). He has recently presented papers on Chinese and Hong Kong movies and literature at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Singapore and Lingnan University.
