The General Education Centre (GEC) was established in 1998. It offers a wide range of Cluster Area Requirement (CAR) subjects to, among others, UGC-funded undergraduates at the University. It also offers the Service-Learning (SL) subject Social Poverty in Developing Countries for undergraduate students.

GEC is distinguished by the diversity of its staff members’ research backgrounds and teaching experience. Their fields include philosophy, literature, history, and political science, as well as the studies of art, cinema, and genders. This leads to a natural emphasis on interdisciplinary studies and the cultivation of critical and creative thinking in GEC subjects.
