In this website, we highlight the academic strengths of the Department of Applied Mathematics and some of its significant contributions to the University.

Our main research interests include Applied Statistics and Financial Mathematics, Operations Research and Optimization, Engineering and Computational Mathematics.

In the past few years, our Department has made significant advances in overall academic and research performance, and PolyU has been listed in the top 100 universities in the world in Mathematics for three consecutive years (2009- 2011), by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. In 2011, the GRF grants won by our Department represents 7.86% of the total such grants awarded to PolyU.
