In this website, we highlight the academic strengths of the Department of Applied Mathematics and some of its significant contributions to the University.

Our main research interests include Applied Optimization, Operations Research, Engineering and Computational Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Financial Mathematics. In early 2006, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) established the AMSS-PolyU Joint Research Institute for Engineering and Management Mathematics (JRI). Since then, JRI has organized several workshops, conferences and distinguished lectures. Apart from AMSS, the Department also maintains close collaborations with researchers in other parts of the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Asia, America, Europe and Oceania.
