The Department recognises the ever-increasing demand for computational power needed in teaching and research. In particular, the Mathematics Laboratories are equipped with up-to-date PCs with a variety of software, laser/colour printers, projectors, plotters, and audio visual facilities to support the teaching of mathematics and statistics. The Department also has a Computer Room equipped with a 128-processor computer cluster with parallel computing capability for staff members to perform specific high speed computational tasks.

In addition, the Department is equipped with up-to-date PCs supported by a variety of software and hardware to enable staff to carry out highly complex research and consultancy. The PCs are linked together by a cable/wireless local area network (LAN) and interconnected by the campus network backbone of a high speed communication system. The campus network is connected to the internet via HARNET (The Hong Kong Academic & Research Network) to facilitate the sharing of computer resources and electronic information within the Department and University and worldwide.

The Department has also installed a couple of Bloomberg terminals to allow staff and students to obtain updated financial data via the renowned Bloomberg Financial Information System.
