Deferred Payment of Tuition Fee


(for local students enrolled on full-time government-funded degree and sub-degree programmes only)

New Admittees 

All local new admittees on degree and sub-degree programmes are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of HK$5,000 (for local JUPAS students) or HK$10,000 (for local non-JUPAS students) at the time of taking up offers.  As the purpose of such payment is to confirm your acceptance of the offer and reserve you the study place, deferment is normally not allowed. If you have genuine hardship, you may contact us for possible assistance.


Eligibility

Local full-time government-funded new admittees on degree/sub-degree programmes paying a flat annual tuition fee (HK$42,100 or HK$31,575) are eligible to apply for deferred payment of the remaining balance of semester 1 tuition fee ((HK$16,050 for JUPAS Degree; HK$11,050 for non-JUPAS Degree; HK$10,788 for Higher Diploma).  They should be either :- 

i.  with genuine financial difficulties; or
ii.   coming from families living on the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA).


Application 

Application form can be obtained from the Centre STARS (Student Advancement and Resources) at Room QT308, 3/F (Entrance at Core T).

For application, applicants must submit the completed application form together with required documents in person to Centre STARS at least 2 working days prior to tuition fee payment deadline for an assessment interview.  Application will be considered on individual merits and application result will be announced immediately after the interview. (Submission time : Mon - Fri from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.to 5:30 p.m.; except Public Holidays).

Current Students


Eligibility

Local full-time government-funded current students on degree and sub-degree programmes are eligible to apply for deferred payment of tuition fee if they :-

i. have received the government Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly–funded Programmes (TSFS)'s notification letter/Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Full-time Tertiary Students (NLSFT)'s remittance advice with enough amount of approved assistance to cover the tuition fee, but the money have not been received; or
ii.  are not meeting the above criterion but with genuine difficulties in settling the tuition fee on or before the payment deadline. Application will be considered on individual merits.


Application 

The due date for tuition fee payment for Semester 1 of 2017/18 is 16 January 2018 (Tue).  Needy current students can apply for deferred tuition fee payment starting from 5 January 2018 (Fri) by online application or in person.

If you have been approved to defer payment to a specified date and wish to apply for further deferment, you can submit application again before the payment deadline.

Online application

Applicants can submit online application and upload the requested supporting documents via Scholarship and Financial Assistance System (SFAS) at https://www40.polyu.edu.hk/sfas-student/ at least 2 working days before the payment deadline.  Late online application will not be entertained.

In person

Applicants can submit the completed application form together with the required documents to the Centre STARS (Student Advancement and Resources) at Room QT308, 3/F (Entrance at Core T) on or before the payment deadline (Submission time : Mon - Fri from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.to 5:30 p.m.; except Public Holidays).  For details, please refer to the "Notes to Applicants" attached with the application form.
