Student Ambassador of ECF Fairness under the Sun

Description

ECF Fairness Under the Sun, which is organized by Fair Trade Hong Kong and funded by Environment and Conservation Fund of the HKSAR Government, is an education programme aiming at raising the awareness of fair trade and climate change among schools and local communities.

We are now recruiting university students to be the programme ambassadors who will be responsible to guide community tours of showcasing solar power facilities and deliver education workshops in secondary schools. Students will receive related trainings from experts of green groups, academics, consultants, engineers and representatives of local grassroots organizations before being appointed as ambassadors.

Details

25 tertiary student ambassadors will receive training in topics such as climate change, renewable energy and fair carbon offsetting, from experts of green groups, academics, consultants, engineers and representatives of local grassroots organizations. There are 8 training in total, 2 hours each, and participants are required to attain an attendance rate of 80% or above. Afterward, students will guide community tours of showcasing solar power facilities and deliver educational workshops in secondary schools.

International Blockchain Olympiad is a multidisciplinary design competition that invites students from around the world to apply blockchain and cryptography for solving real-world challenges.

The Hong Kong Blockchain Society  will be organizing a series of blockchain training workshops for students who are aspired to work in the FinTech, blockchain or cryptography solutions industry. Both undergraduate and post-graduate students from all disciplines are welcome.

Hong Kong Blockchain Olympiad - Training Series

BC 101:  Blockchain & Cryptography

This course is an introduction to the fundamental building blocks of blockchain from high-level first principles and concepts: hash function cryptography, digital signatures, public-key cryptography, distributed computing, distributed ledgers, consensus protocols, smart contracts, privacy-preserving cryptography.

BC 102:  Blockchain Business & Legal

This course covers the legal and compliance issues, risks, and mitigations for designing, launching, and operating an application using blockchain and cryptography. Explore from high-level some of the major use cases for applying blockchain and cryptography, especially in government, health, finance, and supply chain. A brief look into the failures of early blockchain networks, services, and businesses.

BC 202:  Asset Tokenization & Digital Flat

This course extensively explores the concept, need, importance, and future of digital identity, a fundamental aspect of digital transactions which ensures integrity in connecting the physical and the digital world. Deep dive into how a legal entity may prove its own identity and check those of other parties, via unique, verifiable, and authentic digital identity. Discuss and compare the various approaches to create a digital identity. Scrutinize the challenges of creating, deploying, and servicing digital identity. Investigate the impact of personal data privacy regulations such as the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for blockchain. Take a glimpse of some advanced cryptography — zero-knowledge proofs, ring signatures, secure multiparty computation, homomorphic encryption, and proxy re-encryption — and explain how they are used in conjunction with blockchain to address privacy issues arising from digital identity.

The 2020 Peace Summit

Humanitarian Affairs Asia is organising the 2nd Peace Summit of Emerging Leaders. The summit aims to gather young leaders from different parts of the world to give them a new perspective and a broader understanding on peace building.

The summit features keynote speakers, networking sessions and interactive workshops to prepare and empower young leaders to be a champion of peace.

The summit aims to:

  • Encourage delegates to creatively think about practical ways to affect positive change within their communities through social projects.
  • Promote peace and non-violence as a form of effective diplomacy among emerging global leaders.
  • Encourage delegates to think about social issues that the global community faces today, and to apply critical thinking skills on solutions to these challenges.

Provide access to unique educational opportunities in which delegates can learn knowledge in peacebuilding.

Pre-requisites for delegates:

Applicants should be between the ages of 17-35 years old.
They should be passionate about social change, global issues and current affairs.
A self-initiated 1-year opportunity to promote peace as a Humanitarian Affairs Peace Ambassador.

The 2020 Peace Summit of Emerging Leaders is at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand from February 5 to 7, 2020.
