John Mountford

Mr John Mountford graduated from QUT in 1975 and entered private practice specializing in contact lenses for keratoconus, post-PK, paedriatric aphakia, orthokeratology and the medical applications of scleral lenses.
He has published numerous papers and articles on Orthokeratology as well as text-book chapters on the subject for Phillips and Speedwell's Contact lenses, 4th Edition, and Hom's Contact Lens Practice. He is the Principal author of "Orthokeratology; Principles and Practice", published by Elsevier.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Contact lens Society of Australia.
In 2003 he was Awarded a Don Fraser Fellowship by QUT, and is a Research Fellow and visiting clinician to the Department of Optometry. He is currently enrolled in the PhD programme at UNSW under the supervision of Dr Helen Swarbrick researching orthokeratology effects on the cornea.
He is the co-designer and therefore second guilty partner with Don Noack of a variety of RGP designs, including the BE Orthokeratology system, the KBA keratoconus lens, the Baby lens for paediatric aphakia, the post corneal surgery lens (PCS) and the GP Scleral ( Holey Lens) of which he is proud. He also the recipient of ill-gotten royalties from sales of said lenses. |
