The School of Optometry offers the degree programme for Optometry leading to professional qualification as an Optometrist in the Hong Kong SAR.

A qualified Optometrist is a primary eye care practitioner who improves the quality of vision of patients through the use of corrective lenses and other treatment methods, and is often in the position of diagnosing eye diseases and other diseases with signs in the eye and offer appropriate treatment and advice.

Our Optometry teaching clinic is considered to be the best in Asia and is highly regarded worldwide. Through this clinic, our students are exposed to a wide range of patients, and become experienced practitioners by the time they graduate.

The School participates actively in the promotion of eye care in all areas of life. During 2008 Olympic year we worked with the Chinese Olympic team to improve their sports vision, and we continue to work with sporting associations to expand and extend our expertise in this field. The School also does significant work in vision screening across the territory and in China.

The School welcomes students who are community minded, with a passion for helping people and a desire to contribute to the enhancement of scientific vision care.
