LIBRARY

All disabled library users may gain immediate admittance to the Library without waiting in the queue outside the Library. A separate exit is available for wheelchair users.
Disabled users will be given priority at all service points. Library staff are always happy to assist in completing any necessary library procedures.
Trolleys for carrying books for those who are on elbow crutches are available on each floor of the Library. There are also seats designated for the use of the physically disabled.
A special study room for the visually impaired is located on the Ground Floor (Room L013). It is equipped with special personal computers, powerbraille, scanners, magnifying devices and speech synthesizer software for the visually disabled. Please register at the service counter of SAO (ST314) for using the room / facilities there. After registration, students could gain access to the room by simply presenting their student id card to the smart card reader. Advance booking for using the room/ facilities could be made via the online booking system http://www.polyu.edu.hk/sams (click "L013") or calling SAO counter staff at 2766 6800.
 6 carrels in the Research Enhancement Centre on 3rd Floor are available for students with special needs who have registered with Student Affairs Office (both UG & PG, PolyU / PolyU-SPEED awards only). Eligible users can reserve the carrels one day in advance and check in the carrels by swiping their smart cards on the door of the reserved carrels. Advance booking for using the carrels could be made via the Library Facilities Online Booking System http://www.lib.polyu.edu.hk/usinglib/booking_system.
Students with disability should contact the Student Affairs Office for general assistance. Please contact the Section Head of Access Services (2766 6895) concerning any problems in using library facilities.
