Language Partner Programme

To encourage the integration of local and non-local students, SAO is arranging a Language Partner Programme as one of the integration platforms. Please find the details as below.

A)    Benefits for joining:

-       To interact with students from different countries or with different cultural background

-       To make new friends

-       To learn & practice languages in an informal way

B)    Programme mechanism:

-       Applicants have to indicate language(s) that they can teach groupmate(s) and language(s) they would like to learn from / practice with groupmate(s). Applicants are supposed to be fluent and proficient at the language that they plan to teach groupmate(s).

-       According to applicants’ language preference and background, 4-5 successful applicants will be paired up in a group.

-       Successful applicants will be invited to join a kick-off meeting to meet with groupmate(s) assigned. And, SAO may also share the name and contact of successful applicants to their groupmate(s) so that they could arrange meeting and practice languages among themselves.

-       To benefit most from this programme, successful applicants have to be proactive to arrange meetings / gatherings with groupmate(s).

-       As the main objective of this programme is to encourage interaction among local and non-local students, please note that SAO would not scrutinize the language proficiency of applicants.

C)    Selection criteria:

-       Those who could be matched with other applicant(s) with complementary language preference

-       Those who are interested in interacting with students of different cultures

-       Full time students and those who could join the kick-off meeting preferred

D)    Recognition:

-       Co-curricular Achievement Transcript (CAT) for successful applicants who participate in this programme satisfactorily and complete a feedback form by deadline

E)    How to join:

The recruitment period will normally be in Feb and Oct. Please watch out!!!
