Student Tutors' Sharing...

Teaching Cantonese was a fun and rewarding experience. I could not only enjoy the satisfaction of spreading knowledge and helping students from the Chinese mainland, but also practise my Putonghua and learn more about their values and norms through classroom interaction. It is my dream to teach at university in the future. Thus, I treasure this opportunity in particular as I could get a taste of being tutor in practice sessions.

My mind was blank occasionally when I was preparing for the lessons and thinking of ways to make the content more interesting and easier to understand. After this attempt, I then discovered that the key to being a good teacher is keep learning, observing and improving.

The experience of being a student tutor for the Cantonese Practice Sessions is invaluable to me. The students have been very eager to learn and brought up lots of questions for us to discuss. Their active involvement have been a great driving force to our class.

We, as tutors, must have learnt a lot about the linguistic difference between the languages.  The notes prepared are also very good tools for us to teach.
