Over 30 PolyU students performed in a Cultural event which kicked off the arena of cultural appreciation of oriental arts.  For the 200 international delegates, attending the World Association for Cooperative Education Conference (WACE) at PolyU in early February 2010 was not just about paper presentations and panel discussions.  PolyU, as the host and co-organizing university of this international conference, is setting a benchmark to make the Cultural Night a regular feature for the future hosts to put together.  Students who took part in the WACE Cultural Show vividly demonstrated a lot of talent for musical and artistic performances.

Sportive members from the Taekwondo Club of the Students’ Union impressed the audience by exciting legs flying and swinging as the curtain went up, not to mention the creative hybrid of taekwondo and dance, followed by mainland students performing oriental dance, Nunchakus (a kind of Chinese weapon known as the two-section staff) and Chinese folk song.  The Chinese Orchestra of the Students’ Union shared enchanting orchestral music apart from its small group performance of Pi-pa and Gu-zheng.  The Studio Theatre was full of overseas delegates who enjoyed very much the show by giving rounds and rounds of applause.  Cultural exchange was even highlighted with two special guests who presented Cantonese opera as a finale.  Thanks to the friendly support from the Hong Kong Tertiary Institutions Cantonese Opera Society.
