Regulations Governing the Use of Student Lockers

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Each applicant MUST read the locker regulations carefully before submitting the locker application. Users who are found to have violated locker regulations may result in termination of the use of lockers.

Regulations Governing the Use of Student Lockers

1) Eligibility

  • Full-time UGC-funded students are our main service target. Priority would be granted to this group of students. Part-time students are eligible in later round of application.
  • Students studying programmes offered by College of Professional & Continuing Education are not eligible to apply.
  • A maximum of ONE locker would be allocated to each eligible student.
  • No re-allocation of locker is allowed. Please choose your locker location carefully before submitting your application.

2) Termination/Withdrawal/Completion of Studies or Change of Academic Programme

  • Locker users have to vacate their lockers on or before 15 June every year.
  • Early vacation of locker is required in case of:
    • Graduation or completion of study
    • Termination of study
    • Deferment of study
    • Withdrawal of study

Concerning the above circumstances, users have to vacate and unlock their lockers. Our Office reserves the right to force open any locker(s) and dispose of any items which are found inside lockers. An administrative cost of $100 would be charged as a penalty.

  • Students who have their student ID changed are required to report to our office as soon as possible. Our office may classify expired student ID as termination of use of locker. In such cases, our Office reserves the right to force open any locker(s) and dispose of any items which are found inside lockers. An administrative cost of $100 would be charged as a penalty.

3) Use of locker

  • Students are strongly advised to prepare a strong padlock for their own locker.
  • Combination locks are not recommended.
  • Students must keep their locker locked at all times.
  • No stickers or posters are allowed on the lockers.
  • Storage of any items of illegal nature or of which would cause or be likely to cause a health hazard, security risk, physical danger or a nuisance to the environment/the University/general public (e.g. perishable food, explosives, pets, weapons, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
  • Students are advised not to store any valuable belongings in the lockers. The University will not be responsible for the security of the property kept inside the lockers.
  • Any violation of the locker regulations by the users may result in termination of the use of lockers.

4) Un-authorized use of locker(s)

  • Occupying student locker(s) without proper application & approving procedures, and failure to observe the deadline of clearance are treated as authorized use and are strictly forbidden.
  • Our Office reserves the right to force open any locker(s) and dispose of any items which are found inside lockers occupied by an unauthorized user.
  • Our Office is not liable for any loss or damage of items.
  • An administration charge of $100 (as penalty), will be imposed on unauthorized user(s) who have occupied student locker(s) without proper application and approving procedures.
  • Our office would keep the belongings (if any) for a period not longer than 3 months.
  • Records of unauthorized use of locker would be kept for a period up to 7 years.

5) The Rights of the University:

  • The University reserves the right, in case of emergency or violation of the Regulations Governing the Use of Student Lockers, to take possession of the lockers and is not liable for any loss or damage of the property.
