Funding Support for Student Activities



There are a number of funds set up by the University or donated by outside organizations to encourage and subsidize student local and overseas activities. Funding support is open for application by individual students and/or student groups. The following subsidies are available:


Chinese Mainland and Overseas Activities Fund
 
Funds are available to encourage and subsidize individual full-time UGC funded students or student groups for organizing non-course required / non-credit bearing activities in Chinese mainland and overseas which are conducive to the promotion of the image of the University, establishment of links between the University and other Chinese or overseas institutions, and enhancement of understanding of China and other overseas countries. The activities should NOT be part of the formal course requirements and should either be initiated/ planned by the students themselves, or jointly organized with a department of the University. Subsidies will normally cover only part of the expenses incurred by an activity. Applications will be invited two times a year. The deadlines for the two rounds of application are 28 November 2014 (1st Round) and 6 March 2015 (2nd Round) reespectively. Hsin Chong – K. N. Godfrey Yeh Education Fund for Student Programme
 
Funds are available to subsidize full-time students for organizing study/research projects and non-credit bearing exchange programmes. Subsidies will be given to the overall merit of each application including creativity and originality of the project/programme; its contribution to the mankind and society in general and its overall viability in implementation. The project/programme can be undertaken locally or aboard. 

Activities that may be considered for support include world or regional competitions/ events, seminars, conferences, study tours, intellectual or cultural exchange programmes.

Subsidies will normally cover only part of the expenses incurred by an activity. Applications will be invited once a year. The deadline for the application is 23 January 2015 (Friday) at 5:00 p.m. Application details and forms can be downloaded from the following hyperlinks:

Hsin Chong – K. N. Godfrey Yeh Education Fund for Joint Student Projects

Funds are available to subsidize joint student projects to be undertaken by the nine institutions, namely, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Institute of Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The University of Hong Kong.

Subsidies will be given to the projects which enhance mutual understanding and cooperation among students of the tertiary institutions and to encourage creative and constructive endeavours which are conducive to students’ learning and overall development.
