The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) invites expressions of interest from graduates with evidence of academic excellence, research ability, and good communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities for full-time PhD study within a newly launched Fellowship scheme. The scheme aims to recruit outstanding graduates, irrespective of country of origin and ethnic background, to Hong Kong, and will provide a 3-year tuition scholarship, a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and Conference and Research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for awardees for a maximum period of three years.

PolyU is a government-funded university in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.  We have the largest number of students among the seven government-funded universities in Hong Kong, and we have a long and valued history of providing well respected and internationally accredited professionally oriented programmes and producing research of high application value.  PolyU is located in the heart of Hong Kong.  Our city campus is alongside the famous Victoria Harbour, with views looking out across to Hong Kong Island, upwards to Victoria Peak, and behind to the New Territories leading to the border with the Chinese Mainland just a short distance away.  The academic staff body of PolyU represents many cultures and nationalities, and virtually all our academic staff have experience in living and working overseas.  Our student body is increasingly international, and to further promote an international environment in PolyU, we actively seek students from different cultural backgrounds to pursue their research studies here.

PolyU has identified several important areas of strategic focus, including Chirotechnology/Drug Discovery and Development; Fashion and Textiles; Health and Wellness Enhancement; Hospitality and Tourism Management; Logistics and Maritime Services; Product Design, Development and Marketing; Smart Materials and Systems; and Sustainable Urbanisation. These areas, and others, offer PhD students the opportunity to work with leading researchers, supported by modern facilities and equipment, with the objective of tackling problems to find solutions which make a difference to the well being of the community in industrial and socioeconomic terms, and in terms of health assessment and enablement.

The Motto of PolyU is ‘To learn and to apply for the benefit of mankind’. Join us at PolyU as an HKRGC PhD Fellow, and we will help you make a difference to your life, and enable you to apply your academic excellence in a professional context for the benefit of mankind. Join us for a unique learning experience. You will be better equipped for further success and future challenges where it counts most – in the real world.
