The Jockey Club Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic (JCRE Clinic) aims to provide holistic clinical services for clients who need prostheses, orthotics, special seating, assistive technology and movement analysis.  We will also provide specialist consultation and information resources to the community. 

Jockey Club Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic is one of the rehabilitation clinic services available at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The clinic is able to draw on the University’s immense expertise and advanced facilities to address the needs of the client and the community.
Service Team
Consultant Prosthetist-Orthotists (P&O) and Biomedical / Rehabilitation Engineers will service the clinic.  They are all academic staff of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The Consultant P&O are trained in the use of modern procedures, high-tech, space age components and clinical outcomes.  The Biomedical / Rehabilitation Engineers are experienced in applying the latest rehabilitation engineering technology to solve a wide range of problems facing individuals with disability.  The team is dedicated to provide high quality client-centered services.

    The first appointment should be arranged within a week. The waiting time for delivering prosthetics and orthotics service should be within a week for simple cases and for complicated cases or components needed to purchase from overseas should not be longer than 4 weeks.

    For assistive technology services requiring custom design and fabrication, delivery time should be within 12 weeks.

  • Follow-up services.

  • Depending on the nature of service, at least one follow-up session should be provided to ensure the quality of service and to collect client’s feedback.

  • A three-month guarantee period is given to our prosthetics and orthotics services; the components and equipment bought from the manufacturers are accordingly to their corresponding warranty period. For REC products, a one-year warranty period is included.
  • Full explanation, education and training of the clients should be provided.
  • Client feedback survey should be conducted after providing service
