Preparation before Departure
Students who have been selected for an outbound exchange will be invited to attend the following:
First briefing (Compulsory)
Students must attend this first meeting to obtain advice from the Chinese Mainland Affairs Office (CMAO) on the following issues:
- Services provided by CMAO
- Roles of faculties and departments
- Collection of Handbook for Outbound Exchange Students
- Application for Student Exchange Sponsorship
- Application for credit transfer
- Application for Visa
- Purchase of air-ticket
- Collection of host country information
- Purchase of insurance
- Accommodation reservation
Pre-departure Orientation (Compulsory)
All outbound exchange students are required to attend the orientation, which will normally be held 4-6 weeks before students' departure for their exchange study. Schedule will be announced through email. Issues covered in the orientation include:
- Reminder of the administrative issues to be completed before departure
- Things to do upon arrival at the host country
- Collection of Handbook for Outbound Exchange Students
- Tips on how to tackle home sick and cultural shock
- Things to do before returning home
- Distribution of approval letter for sponsorship
