Preparation before Departure

Students who have been selected for an outbound exchange will be invited to attend the following:

First briefing (Compulsory)

Students must attend this first meeting to obtain advice from the Chinese Mainland Affairs Office (CMAO) on the following issues:

  • Services provided by CMAO
  • Roles of faculties and departments
  • Collection of Handbook for Outbound Exchange Students
  • Application for Student Exchange Sponsorship
  • Application for credit transfer
  • Application for Visa
  • Purchase of air-ticket
  • Collection of host country information
  • Purchase of insurance
  • Accommodation reservation
Pre-departure Orientation (Compulsory)

All outbound exchange students are required to attend the orientation, which will normally be held 4-6 weeks before students' departure for their exchange study. Schedule will be announced through email. Issues covered in the orientation include:

  • Reminder of the administrative issues to be completed before departure
  • Things to do upon arrival at the host country
  • Collection of Handbook for Outbound Exchange Students
  • Tips on how to tackle home sick and cultural shock
  • Things to do before returning home
  • Distribution of approval letter for sponsorship
