Visa & Insurance

Visa Application

All Chinese mainland students who study in Hong Kong must obtain an appropriate visa. It normally takes 4 to 6 weeks to process a visa application.

Application Procedures:
  • When you are admitted to the PolyU Student Exchange Programme, our Office will assist to submit all required documents to the Hong Kong Immigration Department on your behalf.

Exchange students should submit ID995A - student visa application form.

Please refer to the sample on completing the form ID995A (Sample)

  • After receiving PolyU Acceptance Letter by email, please make your payment for Visa Application Fee, Insurance Premium and Mail Delivery Charge, via PolyU On-line Payment System - https://www29.polyu.edu.hk/foccp/ccp_payment_menu.jsp.
(Online Payment Guideline for Exchange-in Students)

  • When the visa label (「進入許可」標籤) is issued, our office will collect it from the Hong Kong Immigration Department and send it to your home institution for distribution. You then have to bring the visa label to apply for related documents including 《往來港澳通行證,簡稱“因私通行證”》及相關赴港簽注 at the Public Security Bureau of the city where your personal identity account belongs to (戶口所在地的公安機關出入管理部門). Finally, please stick the visa label onto the space of the page with the approved“因私通行證”.

Note:

(1) Our University ONLY accepts Visa or Master Card. We do not accept others such as American Express or Diners.

(2) You may also settle the payment by buying a bank draft at the Bank of China . The payee should be “The Hong Kong Polytechnic University” or “香港理工大學”. The bank draft shall be sent to the following address:

Chinese Mainland Affairs Office
