Shenzhen Outpost

With sponsorship from the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council and support from the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council Executive Training Centre (Shenzhen) was set up in 2000 under the Shenzhen Research Institute of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Centre launches both life-long education programmes and training courses for many business and industry executives in the South China region. Besides, the Centre also presents a role to be an operation base for providing logistic service to support PolyU promotion activities including the recruitment of mainland students to Hong Kong for PolyU undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

In the meantime, the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University are planning to offer the new joint programme “MBA (Innovation & Design Management)” in the Centre pending the approval from the Ministry of Education.

As PolyU's activities in Shenzhen have been increasing in recent years, a PolyU Base is planned to consolidate the business of Commercialization, Training & Research. The new building, with envisaged completion in 2009, covers a gross floor area of 12,500 sqm on a site of 6,300 sqm in the Science Park of the Shenzhen Virtual University Park. The new facilities will serve the needs of a PolyU entities operating in Shenzhen in the coming years.
