Hangzhou Outpost
http://www.zju-polyucenter.org/Zhejiang University ¡Ð The Hong Kong Polytechnic University International Executive Development Centre was established in 1998 in Hangzhou with an aim to be a first class training base for elites of enterprises. It is the first outpost of PolyU set up in a strategic location on the mainland.
To cope with the challenges brought about by China's strategic development in the globalising economy, the Centre has organised a wide range of PolyU award-bearing programmes from bachelor's to master's degree levels, as well as short-term training courses and tailor-made company workshops. While all programmes are characterised by the international elements built in PolyU curriculum designs, contents tied to local situations and environment also form an integral part of the teaching, thanks to the efforts and contribution from both universities under the collaboration.
Under the approval of the State's Ministry of Education, the Centre has launched with success four master's and one bachelor's degree programmes. This makes up almost one-third of all approved collaboration programmes of PolyU on the mainland. As of year end 2007, the Centre had 400 students on its registration roll and had groomed over 1200 graduates with various PolyU awards.
While academics from both universities and visiting professors from reputable universities are responsible for the teaching, the Centre offers professional administrative and logistic support to ensure a high standard of service and satisfaction amongst students and servicing academics.
To achieve its service excellence, the Centre is located within the campus of Zhejiang University and has classrooms furnished with modern, multimedia facilities, coupled with other internet computing and library services. Students are provided with a friendly, comfortable, convenient learning environment that nourishes intellectual development.
