Abstract:
Part 1: Developing a Programme LOAP: Why and How
This session explores the different purposes and uses of a Programme Learning Outcomes Assessment Plan (P-LOAP), and introduces a 7-step approach to developing the Plan based on a suggested PolyU template.
Part 2: Using Portfolios and Course-Embedded Assessments for Learning Outcomes Assessment
This session introduces two most promising methods of collecting direct measures of programme learning outcomes: the portfolio method and course-embedded assessments. It guides participants to design appropriate portfolio tasks and course-embedded assessments for assessing the effectiveness of a programme in achieving its stated learning outcomes
Part 3: Designing Employer and Alumni Surveys for Learning Outcomes Assessment
Surveys of employers and alumni can provide useful indirect measures of programme learning outcomes. This session focuses on the possible dimensions and items that can be usefully incorporated in such surveys for the purpose of outcomes assessment.
Part 4: Writing Up Your Programme LOAP: A Hands-On Session
This is a hands-on session in which participants will be guided, with relevant prompts and feedback, to produce a first draft of their respective programme learning outcomes assessment plans (P-LOAP).
