Share Your Experience

Thank you for your interest in sharing your valuable experience in implementing outcome-based education.

We are looking for contributions on all aspects of outcome-based education. Some themes are listed below:

  • Promoting outcome-based education
  • Formulating student learning outcomes
  • Curriculum mapping
  • Designing teaching & assessment to align with intended learning outcomes
  • Developing generic competence in subject discipline
  • Assessing learning outcomes at subject level
  • Assessing learning outcomes at programme level
  • Devising learning outcomes assessment plan (LOAP)

Steps to Share Your Experience

  1. Choose a template
    Assorted templates have been prepared to help you organise your experience in writing. Choose one that suits your experience best (see the templates).
     
  2. Write your experience
    Instructions on the template will guide you along as you recap your experience. Contributions should be a concise account of the experience with explanatory notes on the choice of methods/approaches (1-2 pages). Sharing of useful materials is strongly encouraged. Please be reminded that written permission should be obtained for any copyrighted materials to be shared.
     
  3. Submit for uploading to the OBE website
    After you have finished with the writing, please send it to us along with other materials you wish to share in connection with your case. Our colleagues will contact you if follow-up work is needed. You will be notified through email when your case is ready for publication.

Support for Writing up Your Experience

We are pleased to provide the following support to make your sharing easier:

  1. Writing support
    If you have an experience to share but have questions about how to write it up, or do not have the time to write it up, don¡¦t hesitate to contact our support team and we will be happy make special arrangement for you.
  2. Editorial support
    You don't need to worry about typos in your writing when it appears on the website because all submitted cases will be reviewed for language use and coherence of content before they are published (although we do encourage you proofread it for accuracy and clarity before submitting). This means that EDC has to reserve the right to make minor editorial changes to your writing, while major changes will only be made with your consent.

Copyright Issues

  1. Contributors are responsible for obtaining written permission from copyright owner for any copyrighted materials they wish to share in connection with their cases.
     
  2. While the contributors will retain the copyright of the materials, they are required to grant EDC the right to distribute the materials in all formats (including electronic means and as examples in staff development workshop) for non-commercial purposes. Contributors are free to republish their experience elsewhere but are kindly requested to acknowledge EDC as their original publisher.
