PolyU has pledged itself to developing students with professional competence and attributes necessary for the knowledge-based society in the 21st century. A set of desired graduate attributes was identified and included in the Strategic Plans. Figure 1 shows the graduate attributes, listed in PolyU's Strategic Plan 2008-12, we aspire to culitvate in our undergraduate students.

These graduate attributes have been further articulated into intended learning outcomes. Policies and guidelines on the intended learning outcomes were promulgated to reinforce the implementation of OBE:
