International Conference on Brand Strategies and Management
On 19 November 2005, the Department of Management and Marketing joined the Faculty of Business in holding the International Conference on Brand Strategies and Management with the Hong Kong Design Centre. This one-day conference, held at the Sheraton Hotel, attracted some 450 people from business and academia.
The Conference was opened by the Hon. Victor Lo (Council Chairman of PolyU and Chairman of Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Design Centre), Mr. Fred Lam (Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council) and our University President Professor Poon Chung-kwong.
The opening ceremony was followed by keynote presentations and practitioner forums. Overseas speakers included Prof. Kevin Keller, E.B. Osborn Professor of Marketing, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; Mr. Wally Olins, Chairman, Saffron Brand Consultants; Prof. John Davis, Co-Executive Director, Center for Excellence in Branding, Singapore Management University; Prof. Leslie de Chernatony, Professor of Brand Marketing, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham; and Dr. Tony Apéria, Assistant Professor, School of Business, Stockholm University.
Local guest speakers included Mr. Simon Leung, Regional President, Asia Pacific, Motorola Asia Pacific Limited; Mr. Zhang Ji Wen, Deputy General Manager, China Vanke Co. Ltd.; Mr. Peter Lau, Chairman and CEO, Giordano International Limited; and Mr. Charlie Stewart-Cox, General Manager Marketing, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd.).
