Aims
This programme will provide you with:
A rounded business and marketing education.
   
Competence in the analysis, planning, implementation and control of marketing decisions.
   
Analytical ability and research competence.
   
Ability to communicate, interact and intervene in the integrative role ascribed to marketing.
   
Appreciation of the responsibilities of marketing professionals within broader environmental and
  international contexts.
   
Literacy in the use of information systems and technology relevant to marketing.
 
Characteristics
The programme provides students with flexibility when pursuing their studies. They can either take a
FULL marketing programme, a MAJOR in Marketing and a Minor in other disciplines within the Faculty of Business or in other faculties, or a DOUBLE MAJOR in marketing and design on a competitive basis (see Programme Structure).
   
A wide range of elective subjects are available.
   
Company visit opportunities to the Chinese Mainland and overseas are possible and students will have
opportunities to present projects arising from these visits in the annual marketing symposium (optional).
   
Student-centred interactive learning will be encouraged.
   
Emphasis is placed on developing practical marketing skills and professional knowledge.
   
Students are equipped with real life working experience before they graduate. All marketing students
must complete 300 hours (3 training credits) of Work-Integrated Education (WIE) before graduation.
   
All students are encouraged to participate in the Whole Person Development Programme (WPDP). The
WPDP includes a range of extra-curricular activities, such as leadership training camps, peer tutoring, mentorship, Grand China Elite programme, overseas and Chinese Mainland exchanges.

Three Study Options
 
BBA (Honours) Marketing students have three main study options:
 
1
Opt for the Double Degree in Marketing and Design on a competitive basis (4 years; 138 credits);
   
2
Opt for a BBA (Hons) in Marketing (Full programme), as a single discipline, specialist degree
(3 years; 99 credits) or
 
3
Opt for a BBA (Hons) with a Major in Marketing and a Minor in another discipline
  (3 years; 99 credits).
   
Placement Opportunity
All business students must complete a 300-hour Work-Integrated-Education (WIE) training before
graduation.
   
 
Ms KWOK Shuk Yin Grace from Marketing year 3 joined the Gammon
  University Fellowship Program in June 2006 and worked for the Gammon Constructions Ltd. during the summer. It demonstrates that our Marketing students’ competitiveness is not limited to a major business sector in HK and is edged in those that have been traditionally dominated by engineering and science students.
     
Mr TAM Ka Lun Alan of Marketing year 3 joined the Hong Kong Police
  Force for the Summer Internship Program in June 2006. He helped out to work for the project titled “Reduction of Bureaucracy” of the Service Quality Wing there.
 
Market Recogition
Our Programme has been elected as the best marketing programme in Hong Kong by
  www.education18.com in 2000 and 2001. In addition, our students have consistently demonstrated their marketability by joining major business competitions hosted by prestigious organisations in Hong Kong. So far, we have obtained a remarkable track record.
   
 
In 2006, a team of marketing students won the BRONZE award in the
  HSBC Young Entrepreneur Awards organised by the Hong Kong Bank. A total of 300 teams from all Hong Kong tertiary institutions participated in the competition.
   
In 2005, two teams of marketing students won the GOLD award and the
  BRONZE award respectively in the HSBC Young IT Entrepreneur Awards organised by the Hong Kong Bank. Over 300 teams from all Hong Kong tertiary institutions participated in the competition. The Gold award winner scaled even greater heights and won the Best of the Best Award in the Regional Grand Final of the competition.
   
In 2004, a team of marketing students won the BRONZE award in the
  Arthur Samy Memorial Fund Business Adminstration Paper Competition organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Business Students. Over 130 teams from all Hong Kong tertiary institutions participated in the competition.
   
In 2003, a team of marketing students won the BRONZE award in the
  HSBC Young IT Entrepreneur Awards organised by the Hong Kong Bank. Over 190 teams from all Hong Kong Tertiary institutions participated in the competition..
   
Professional Recognition
Graduates can obtain exemptions from the examination of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK.
 
Career Prospects
Equipped with a well grounded business and marketing education you will qualify for a wide variety of
  employment opportunities including account management, advertising, marketing research, marketing/product/brand management, customer service, public relations, consumer affairs and protection.
 
 
Scholarships
Students with excellent performance may be awarded scholarships donated by professional bodies.
   
In the academic year of 2005/06, our students were awarded scholarships such as AmCham charitable
Foundation Prize Book Award, CMA & Donors Scholarship, Department of Management & Marketing Scholarship for Hall Residents, InterCham Scholarship, MM Outstanding Fresher Award, Providence Foundation Outward Bound Training Award, The HK Polytechnic University International Students Scholarship and Wing Hang Bank Scholarship.
   
Other scholarships included the MM Outstanding Fresher Award, Stephen Kam Chuen Cheong
  Memorial Scholarship (Non-academic Achievement) and the Department of Management and Marketing Scholarship for Hall Residents.

Alternative Entry Route (NON-JUPAS)
A Diploma (with Credit) in Business Studies or related discipline.
