Getting to Campus

Located in Kowloon, adjacent to the commercial and shopping area of Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui, The University campus is easily accessible by various means of public transport:

Head for Hung Hom Station on the East Rail Line, then take the footbridge at Exit A1 to reach our main campus (Please refer to MTR for interchange information)

For public buses that run through the Cross Harbour Tunnel - get off at the stop at the entrance/exit of the Tunnel on the Kowloon side (Details of bus routes are available from Kowloon Motor Bus and Citybus and New World First Bus)

Pick-up and drop-off at the entrance on Cheong Wan Road

Finding Classrooms

PolyU buildings are constructed around Cores named with alphabets A to Z. Classrooms are named by the Cores alphabets, followed by the level of the classroom. Rooms on the podium start with 2; those rooms on one floor below podium with 1 and the ground floor with zero. For example, Room TU107 is one floor below the podium; Room QT008 is at the ground floor, while Room HJ304 is one floor above podium between Cores H and J. Students may in general access the classroom via either of the Cores.

Some buildings are standalone ones (e.g. Cores M or Y). The following theatre and auditorium are abbreviated as follows when they are presented in your class timetable:

Please always bring along your student identity card for accessing to facilities on the PolyU campus as well as these off-campus teaching venues.



Student Accommodations

The PolyU Student Halls were established with major funding support from the University Grant Committee (UGC). Hence the eligibility to hall residence is set with reference to the UGC guidelines. The following groups of students are eligible to apply for hall residence:

For non-local taught postgraduate students, the University provides the option of University managed off-campus housing, which is operated on cost-recovery basis with quality services on property management.

Meanwhile, in order to cater the diverse residential needs of non-local student, the University also providing some recommended self arranged accommodations for consideration. Please click the following hyperlinks for more information:





Student Locker

Full-time UGC-funded students are primary service targets for use of lockers at $30 locker rental fee upon successful application. Part-time students are eligible to apply for a locker in round 2 and 3 of online application. (Students studying programmes offered by College of Professional & Continuing Education should approach HKCC/SPEED/CyberU office for assistance.)

Physical Health
Physical Education Section provides a wide range of programmes and facilities to promote physical, social and mental well-being and appreciation of sports. Various sports facilities such as fitness rooms, swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, badminton courts, soccer pitch, etc. are available for students to enhance and demonstrate their physical fitness and sports excellence. Mental Health
When you are stepping into the PolyU, it seems like you are approaching another milestone. The challenges encountered are always far from what you expected. Issues with adaptation to a new environment, stress, relationship difficulties, study pressure may drain you to feel anxious and depressed.

The University Health Service (UHS) provides a comprehensive range of primary health care for the University Community. Services available to full-time students included medical consultations, laboratory investigations, wound management, minor operative treatment, immunisation and health check-ups and certification on health examination, etc. Subsidized primary dental care is also available for full-time students. The UHS Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic will provide service to full-time students since 1 March 2012.

Catering Facilities

Within the campus, there are a total of twelve catering outlets comprising Student Canteens, Staff Canteen, Student/Staff Restaurants, Theatre Lounge and cafés providing about 3,000 seats and offering an extensive range of Asian and Western cuisines to suit different needs of the University community.

In Student Halls of Residence, students can dine in the Hall Restaurant which has about 1,500 seats and serves local and Western food and Chinese dim sum.

The canteens and cafés cater for the basic needs of students and staff for fast, low-priced and yet nutritious meals.

The restaurants and Theatre Lounge cater for the social needs of students and staff with a better dining environment, higher grade food and full table services. A relatively higher price is charged.

Sports Facilities

Physical Education Section of provides a wide range of programmes and facilities to promote physical, social and mental well-being and appreciation of sports.

On-campus Sports Facilities:
Shaw Sports Complex consists of Sports Hall No.1 for major ball games; Sports Practice Hall for badminton, martial arts, fencing, and volleyball; a fitness room; two golf practice bays; an activity room; two rooftop tennis courts, and a table-tennis room.
Michael Clinton Swimming Pool adjacent to Shaw Sports Complex, is an outdoor pool of 50 meter in length with 8 swimming lanes.

Fong Shu Chuen Hall near Shaw Sports Complex is a multi-purpose sports hall for basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Keith Legg Sports Field includes a five-a-side artificial turf soccer pitch.

Kwong On Jubilee Sports Centre in the Communal Building comprises Sports Hall No.2 for basketball and badminton, four squash courts, an activity room and a laboratory for fitness testing.

Off-campus Sports Facilities:
The Joint Sports Centre at Renfrew Road, Kowloon Tong, which is shared with Hong Kong Baptist University and the City University of Hong Kong, provides a 400m all-weather track, a 11-a-size natural grass soccer pitch, an outdoor multi-purpose court for basketball, volleyball, handball and five-a-side soccer; and four tennis courts for sports competitions, training and recreational use

Student Amenities

The Amenities Centre inside the Communal Building provides various kinds of communal facilities including music appreciation and practice rooms, a TV room, multi-purpose rooms, a common room, a karaoke room and a mini-exhibition area. The opening hours of Amenities Centre is Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please click here for details.



Bank & ATM

There are two mini-banks (Hang Seng Bank and The Bank of East Asia) on the podium level of the Shaw Amenities Building (Core VA). Automated Teller Machines (ATM) are also available near the mini-banks and you will find it convenient to have an ATM card to withdraw money at any time.

The Post Office nearest to PolyU campus is located at International Mail Centre, 80 Salisbury Road, Kowloon. The opening hours of different post offices vary; you can get more information from the 24-hour Post Office Enquiry Hotline 2921 2222 or their website: Stamps in booklets of the three commonly used denominations can be purchased from the 7-11 Convenience Store.pic9
