Message from the Warden
Among the five virtues (¼w¡B´¼¡BÅé¡BŽÄ¡B¬ü), integrity (¼w¨|), sportsmanship (Åé¨|) and aesthetic nourishment (¬ü¨|) are the three on which we would like to put more emphasis in hall education.
To us, education (±Ð¨|) means two things: teaching (±Ð) and cultivation (¨|). No doubt that the present university education assures our students learnt upon graduation and by such, they surely are “knowledgeable”. Yet, what complements knowledge to make a person a truly educated one is the virtuous growth from within oneself that carries no less weight than the sheer knowledge one gained through learning in classroom.
By being “educated” from within as well as from without, one is stronger and more confident; he never gives up or backs down under adversities; he does not deceive and betray his friends and himself under temptations; and he does not trade honesty and integrity for benefits. Instead, he takes every threat a new opportunity, every defeat a beginning of coming success, and every material lost an invaluable experience gain. With a healthy physique and the appreciation for arts and beauties in life, he anticipates serenity in stormy weather; envisions light through darkness; raises hopes out of predicaments, and excels with stigma – and with such qualities make him the preferred individual from the mediocre.
With a cultivated, healthy and visually enhanced environment, I intend the Halls to develop, our students living here will be exposed to various forms of moral and visual inspirations. Through the various hall activities, they will interact among peers for mutual personal/cultural growth and gains in life.
