What is PolyU NetID

The PolyU NetID (Network Identity) is your key to the central IT facilities including University Portal, Academic Unix Cluster, e-Learning platform and other network facilities and services. It is your unique personal identifier known by the University's computer systems which will enable you to apply a single username and password pair, named as PolyU Network Identity (NetID) and Network Password (NetPassword) respectively, to access the following facilities and services:

• University Portal (myPolyu)
• Wireless LAN & Fixed Network Outlets
• HelpCentre Online Tracking Service (HOTS)
• Academic Unix Cluster, myStore, myWeb & mySurvey
• Blackboard (WebCT) e-Learning Platform

As for the PolyU Connect service which is a multi-service platform that integrates e-mail with additional communication, collaboration and productivity services, a separate login ID and password pair is needed for access.

Please note that the privilege to use these IT facilities and services carries with it certain responsibilities and obligations, which are set forth in the PolyU Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and the Computer Systems Security Policy. 

Under these policies, all users are required to protect the integrity and security of the systems, and to comply with all applicable laws, contractual obligations and regulations. Users must also abide by all the prevailing policies, rules, guidelines and standards applicable to the use of PolyU IT facilities and services as announced by ITS.

To Register Your NetID 

All students are assigned with a NetID to access the central IT facilities and services. New studens can register their NetIDs and select their NetPasswords via the "NetID Registration" function of PUsecure Identity Portal (IdPortal).

Please note that you must accept the PolyU Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for IT Facilities and Services and the Computer Systems Security Policy, before you can complete the NetID registration process. Please read the policies carefully before registering your NetID.

PUsecure Identity Portal (IdPortal)

IdPortal (https://idportal.polyu.edu.hk) is the user gateway to PUsecure Identity Management System (PUsecure-IM). It provides self-service web-based functions for you to:

• Perform NetID registration
• View your NetID profile
• Change your NetPassword
• Reset your NetPassword (in case you have forgotten it)

Changing NetPassword 

For security reason, you must change your NetPassword via the NetID Management System at least once every 6 months.  The System will send you a reminder e-mail before your NetPassword expires. Click here for the procedures of changing your NetPassword.
