| Software Licences Available for Departments' Purchase |

Agreements have been made with software vendors for departments to purchase new licence and / or maintenance upgrade of the following PC software at prices lower than the regular packages: 1. Adobe Open Options Contractual Licensing Programme Managed through Jardine OneSolution (HK) Limited, the Adobe Open Options Contractual Licensing Programme (CLP) is a volume licensing programme which provides fixed discount level for a list of commonly-used Adobe and macromedia software products during the 2-year agreement period. Under the current agreement, departments can enjoy educational discount on a list of common Adobe and Macromedia software licences until end January 2012. Stand-alone and Concurrent Licence Both stand-alone and concurrent licences are available under CLP. Please note that concurrent licences can only be used at computer laboratories for training / teaching purposes. The ratio of the number of workstations installed with the software to the number of concurrent licences acquired should be at least 2:1. Maintenance Option Departments can also join the maintenance programme which will According to the CLP agreement, the coverage of the licence and maintenance option will start on the first day of the following month after the Purchase Order (PO) has been processed by Adobe, which would approximately be 2 weeks after the issuance of PO by our Finance Office. 2. Microsoft Open Licence Programme (MOLP) For MS products not covered by the MS Campus Agreement, departments can purchase software licences at educational discounted prices through the Microsoft Open Licence Programme (MOLP). Licences acquired through MOLP are perpetual licences without concurrent usage right. Departments may also acquire 'Software Assurance' under MOLP to keep their software up-to-date. Please note that 'Software Assurance' must be purchased at the same time with the licence. Media and Documentation The acquisition of licences through MOLP will not include any media or documentation sets. The master media of selected commonly-used MS products are available at the ITS General Office for copying/loaning by departments. As for other products, departments will be responsible for arranging their own legal media, for example, through the purchase of a fulfilment CD available under MOLP or a full packaged product. 4. SPSS Software To provide more convenient services to departments, ITS has centrally coordinated the acquisition and distribution for SPSS statistical Software to departments. All SPSS licences will expire on 31 May each year and are subject to renewal at the anniversary date. Users with valid licence are entitled to free upgrade. Placing of Orders Departments who wish to acquire SPSS software licences, including new and renewal licences, could complete and return the web-based SPSS Licence Requisition Form to the ITS General office. Media of the SPSS software are available for borrowing at the ITS General Office. Please note that according to the licence terms, departments are not allowed to duplicate the media themselves.
