Subject to the availability of central software funding to ITS, arrangements will be made for the acquisition and distribution of site licence for the following PC software and their upgraded versions to departments for staff use free of charge:

1. Microsoft Campus Agreement

Under the Microsoft Campus Agreement centrally coordinated by ITS, all staff of PolyU, full time and part-time, have the right to use a bundle of commonly-used MS software on university-owned PCs. 

Products covered under the Campus Agreement 

• MS Windows Upgrades 
• MS Office or Office for Mac (including MS Publisher)
• MS Project Professional
• MS Visual Studio Professional
• MS Core Client Access Licence (Includes Windows Server CAL, Exchange Server Standard CAL, Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard CAL, Systems Centre Configuration Manager 2007 Configuration Management Licence CAL)
• MS SQL Client Access Licence (CAL)

Under the Agreement, staff are granted the "Work at Home Use Rights". They are entitled to run one copy of the software products covered in the Agreement, on either a laptop or desktop that they own or lease at home, for school-related purposes, provided that the 2 copies are not run concurrently.   Staff are required to sign an Acceptance Form when borrowing the media for installation at home.

Foreign Language Rights 

Users are also granted the "Foreign Language Rights" which entitle them to run the software products covered in any available language. 

Upgrade/Downgrade Rights

Colleagues are also granted the right to run the new versions of the software included in the Agreement as and when they are released. You can also run any previous version of the software.

Media and Documentation 

A master media for the Campus Software Products and their released upgrade versions will be made available to ITS by Microsoft. Departments can contact the ITS General Office for borrowing/copying of the media. Departments may also choose to buy a full-packaged product to serve as the master media. 
 

2. McAfee Anti-virus Software

To protect the computing equipment, systems and data of the University and of users against virus invasion, the McAfee anti-virus software is centrally provided by ITS to all staff.

Under the agreement, all staff can install one licensed copy of the McAfee anti-virus software on their University-provided PCs. They can also install one copy of the software on a home computer provided that the two copies are not used concurrently.

3. SAS Software

4 modules of the SAS statistical software, including  BASE, GRAPH, IML and STAT, are centrally provided by ITS for free use by departments. To facilitate the licence renewal arrangements, departments will be requested to indicate at the end of each year the number of licences they require for the different modules. Media of the 4 modules are available for borrowing / copying at the ITS General Office.
