The Food Safety Consortium (FSC)

Initiated by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the FSC comprises stakeholders from the academia, industry and other organizations to address food safety with cutting-edge & applied technologies, together with timely and in-depth communications on food safety related matters. We are supported by PolyU’s Food Safety and Technology Research Centre (FSTRC), Innovation and Technology Development Office (ITDO) and other academic and research units.

Our Objectives

  • To create an industry-academia network and to provide support to the industry with advanced technology and science
  • To enhance capability and competence on food safety and its related technology development through academic and industrial collaborations
 

How is FSC structured?

The Management Committee, Steering Committee and Advisory Board are responsible for the management of FSC. Sub-committees encompassing the following food industry areas shall be formed, with each to be chaired by members of the Management Committee with the corresponding expertise:

  • Retail & Wholesale
  • Manufacturing
  • Catering
  • Testing & Services
  • Food Security Management

Activities such as regular networking gatherings, industry technology needs assessment workshops, seminars, match-making meetings and the like will be organized with the support of PolyU serving as the Secretariat of the FSC.
