Our campus is located right in the heart of Hong Kong with easy access to key districts and major attractions.
Our Vibrant Culture
We are the largest publicly funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong in terms of student population. We have an international community with over 1,000 international students on campus from over 40 countries and over 1,200 academic staff, many who are recruited globally.
Our World Class Facilities
We have many state of the art facilities to meet the learning needs of our students. A multi-disciplinary "Industrial Centre" offers on-site practical training. Our fully operational teaching and research hotel, Hotel ICON further reinforce our position as one of the best hospitality education and research centres in the world. An "Innovation Tower" designed by Zaha Hadid will be built by 2012 to facilitate further inter-disciplinary research and design education, reinforcing Hong Kong as Asia's design hub. Our new campus developments due to complete in 2012 promise an additional net floor area of 25,600m2 for teaching and research purposes, extra facilities and 1,650 hostel places.
Our Faculties and Schools
We have six faculties and two schools, each with its own unique strength. Programmes offered are designed with a focus on application and industrial relevance to ensure our graduates are prepared for the workplace.

Our Unique Programmes
We have over 170 programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels under six faculties and two schools. We are the sole provider in Hong Kong offering full-time Bachelor's degree programmes in: Design, Fashion and Textiles,Geomatics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Nursing, and many other disciplines. Our programmes are flexible and can be taken as Double-Degree Options and Major/Minor Combinations.
Our Outstanding Achievements
We have a lot of unique achievements that contributes to the success of the University. Our School of Design is ranked the 10 best in Asia among the top 30 in the world (BusinessWeek, 2009) and top 30 design programmes in the world (Special Report, BusinessWeek, 2009) and our School of Hotel and Tourism Management is ranked 2nd in the world based on research and scholarships (Journal of Hospitality and Research, 2009). Our Faculty of Business was ranked 42nd in the world for finance and economics research (Journal of Financial Economics 93, 2009), the only university that made the ranking in Asia and Australia. More recently, it is ranked 60th in the world and 2nd in Hong Kong, according to the UTD Top 100 World Rankings of Business Schools based on Research Contribution 2007-2011.
Our Expanding Global Presence
We have an extensive network with more than 560 partner institutions located across 40 countries and regions. We have a strong presence in Chinese mainland, with 17 state-approved programmes in operation, the lead among Hong Kong and overseas universities. Moreover, we have partnered with 300+ mainland institutions on 700+ collaborative projects and approximately 300 projects on the research front.
Our Innovative Research
We are renowned for our cutting edge research and we have over 2,600 research projects in progress, worth over HK$1,400M funded by research grants and external funds (2009/10). In addition to this, we have won 160+ awards from international invention expos since 2001 and have 310+ patents granted and 520+ patents pending for our innovations (June 2011).
Our Preferred Graduates
We place a strong emphasis on nurturing students' all-round qualities, and strive to groom graduates who will be 'most preferred' by employers through the design of our programmes and the practical opportunities we offer. We are the only university in Hong Kong which implements a mandatory Work-Integrated Education (WIE) component as part of the curriculum requirement and a 'Preferred Graduate' Development Programme (PGDP) to facilitate work-based learning. We have over 1,100 partner companies and organizations which offer students training opportunities during the summer and our offshore placement opportunities through PGDP are spread across 30 countries and regions. As a result, our graduates are regarded by recruiters as the 'most preferred' with the highest practical value among local universities graduates.
