Summer Programme

Application
Step 1: Submit online application by 15 April 2011.
Step 2: Successful applicant to receive Admission Letter from International Affairs Office (IAO) by email in 2 - 4 weeks after the application deadline.
Step 3: Successful applicant to complete enrolment form online and pay the required fees within 5 working days upon receiving the Admission Letter or by 10 May 2011, whichever is earlier.
  • Interested students from non-exchange partners please contact the International Affairs Office at international.exchange@polyu.edu.hk.
  • All fees (including tuition and optional study tour fees) have to be settled by 10 May 2011. You will be withdrawn automatically if you fail to settle payment by the specified date. Please refer to fees for more details.

How to apply

To apply for the Summer Programme, simply follow the steps below and you will be able to submit your online application with ease and accurancy.

  1. Complete your Application Form online.

  2. Attach all supporting documents electronically to your application. Once you have submitted your online application, you must send all the required original hard copies to us:

    • Curriculum Vitae in English.
    • Academic transcript.
    • Copy of your passport (with a validity of 6 months after the end of the Programme) or Hong Kong ID card (if you have the right of abode in Hong Kong).
    • Proof of financial support which should be a bank document with evidence of HKD7,000 (for students on tuition waiver), HKD20,000 (for tuition fee paying students) or more in your holding. You will need to ensure the document is in English and contains:
      • the name of the bank.
      • the name of the account holder.
      • a balance equivalent to the minimum amount required. If you are not the account holder, the account holder must write a declaration with ink-signed original signature to confirm that you will be financially supported for the duration of the summer programme.
    • Completed visa application form ID995A (page 1 to page 4).

      If you are a Chinese passport holder studying overseas, additional documents are required for your application of the Hong Kong student visa. For details, please refer to visa and insurance.
    • One extra photo for your PolyU Student I.D. Card.
    • Copy of your student ID card or supporting document from your home university that proves your enrolment at your home university.

    Make sure all the above documents are in order and send them in one package to:

Special note for Chinese passport holder studying overseas

If you are Chinese passport holder studying in an overseas institution, the following additional documents are required for the application of a Hong Kong student visa:

  • Copy of your Chinese passport identification page with validity for at least 6 months after the end of the summer programme.
  • A written statement with your ink-signed original signature outlining the following:
    • the degree and subjects which you are currently pursuing.
    • the country which you will depart from for Hong Kong.
    • an explanation of why you have decided to embark on this summer programme.
    • a statement confirming that you will depart Hong Kong after completing the summer programme.
  • A copy of the visa issued by the country of your home institution - a certified translation is required if the visa is not in English.
 
 
Special note for Taiwanese passport holder studying overseas
  • A copy of your Taiwanese passport identification page with validity until the end of your exchange period.
  • A copy of both sides of your Taiwan Household Registration Record (¥xÆW¤áÄy¼ð¥») with the back side of the document showing it was issued within the last 3 months).
  • A written statement with your ink-signed original signature outlining the following:
    • an explanation of why you have decided to embark on this exchange programme.
    • your plans after completing the exchange programme.
 
Accommodation

All students who participate in the summer programme will be offered accommodation at the PolyU Student Halls of Residence. All rooms are air-conditioned and fully furnished with mini-fridge, IP phone and unlimited free access to the internet. You will be sharing a room with another student and it will cost HKD40 (USD5) per person per day.

Application deadline

Online application must be completed by 15 April 2011. All required documents must reach IAO on or before 30 April 2011. Late submission of required documents may jeopardize your visa application.
