MR. JIN, HONG-SEOK

Secretary General of Korea Convention Event Industry Association

Mr. Jin, Hong-Seok is the Secretary General of Korea Convention Event Industry Association. The membership of Korea Convention Event Industry Association contains Convention Centres, PCOs, Education Institutions, Facility Rentals, as well as Individuals like Certified Convention Planners. It has approved as the “Centre for Korea Convention Industry Development” by the “Convention Industry Development Law” in Korea . Its main objectives include Lobbying, Promotion, Education, Business Development, Standard Setting, Research, Publication, Networking, etc.

Mr. Jin also plays a role as a professor-in-chief of e-Exhibition and Convention Management Course at Kwangwoon University in Seoul , Korea . His career started as an exhibition organiser in 1994. He organised the “Koguryo Special Exhibition” with Korea Broadcasting System (KBS). He brought this show to the British Museum in 1997 and this show attracted 2-3 million visitors throughout the world. Through this exhibition he attempted to publicise the grandness of Korean history and to develop the character and design industry in Korea . His career extends to a sports marketing specialist while he served as a marketing director of Busan Asian Games 2002. ‘Korea Travel Card’ is currently in operation in Korea which was developed by Mr. Jin’s consultation.

His current projects to develop Korean convention industry are depicted as PCO Service Quality Standardization, Development of Convention Management Software Programme, Measurement of Economic Impact of Convention Industry including Spending Pattern of Convention Attendees, Building a Database of Korea Convention Organisers and Sponsors etc.

He was born in Seoul and educated in Korea University , London School of Economics, Cass Business School ( London ), and Thames Valley University . He is the co-author of “Current Issues and Development Strategies of Korean Convention, Exhibition and Event Industries and Convention Handbook for Local Government Officials.”
