MR. ANTHONY WONG
Group Managing Director of AOS Conventions & Events

Born in 1956, Anthony Wong's instinctive passion for outdoor life and nature led him to embark on a career in the tourism industry. In 1976, he and a team of enthusiastic adventurers established Asian Overland Services Tours & Travel.

With his partners' interests shifting into other endeavors, Anthony was soon single handedly building his own solo operation. Not even the economic crisis of the mid 80s could dampen Anthony's goal in seeing his company make it to the top! Under his leadership as Group Managing Director, and through his perseverance and commitment, AOS became one of the leading inbound tour operators in the country for Adventure, Experiential Learning, Special Interest and Incentive Tours.

In 1990, Anthony established AOS Convention & Events, a destination management and conference and exhibition company, meeting client demand for M.I.C.E. activities in Malaysia. To-date, AOS has successfully managed groups from 20 to 6000 people. For three consecutive years from 1998 to 2000, AOS was voted as the Best Destination Management Company (MICE) in the Asia Pacific region.

Determined to see Malaysia host world conferences, Anthony became actively involved in bidding for international meetings. He has helped local non-profit organizations won four large world conferences. Malaysia will now host these meetings throughout the years 2002 to 2006.

At IMEX 2003 in Frankfurt Germany, Anthony was amongst the four recipients of the "Academy Awards" recognized for bringing about greater awareness of the Incentive and Meetings product within the Asia Pacific region, particularly with developing destinations.

Anthony is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and seminars on Eco-tourism and MICE and is regularly called upon for consultation and advice. He is also a trainer in the field of Experiential Training and Motivation Camp and regularly called upon to conduct training for corporate companies on team building. A certified Camp Counselor himself, he has conducted many summer camp programs for school children, a passion he enjoys doing since his younger days and all these through his company AOS Experiential Education Centre.

His favourite motto is "Don't go where the path leads, rather go where there's no path and leave a trail."
