Foreword 序言

Ir Professor Ping-kong Alexander Wai 衞炳江教授、工程師 Building a sustainable campus has long been the primary objective of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and it steers the University’s development. With the rollout of the new four-year undergraduate program in 2012/13, we have more colleagues and students joining the PolyU community and the urge for developing a sustainable lifestyle is becoming more apparent and persistent.
營造一個可持續發展的校園一直是香港理工大學(理大)首要的工作目標,亦是推動理大不斷向前的動力。隨著全新的四年制本科課程於2012/13學年推出,我們樂見更多教職員和學生加入理大的大家庭,抱有熱誠和堅持貫徹可持續發展的生活方式。

Economic growth and modernization bring about improved living standards and greater convenience. However, it is worth noting the various side effects of economic growth such as over consumption, wastage of resources and waste problems which constitute new social and environmental issues. To tackle these problems, we need the commitment and collaborative efforts of the entire community to embrace an environmentally sustainable culture in our daily life. Being one of the leading tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, PolyU sees an indispensable responsibility in conveying this message to every member of the society, calling for their action and educating our next generation.
經濟的急速發展和社會的進步讓我們迎來更優質、舒適和方便的生活,然而這亦同時衍生出過度消費、資源浪費和廢物處理等各項社會和環境問題。要改變這種情況,我們需要提高社會對可持續發展的意識和了解。理大作為一所具領導地位的大學,定當責無旁貸,致力推動社會各界攜手合作,並教育我們下一代,以達致香港可持續發展的相關工作。

In response to this challenge, we have been working intensively to promote campus sustainability by establishing a cooperative effort among our students, academics and frontline offices. This year, we have successfully launched the first ever Campus Sustainability Weeks with the support from both internal and external units to establish a platform facilitating positive exchange and promotion of sustainability. The University also continues to encourage staff and students to pursue a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
面對這項挑戰,理大一直不遺餘力地推動所有教職員和學生一起參與可持續發展的相關活動。在校內外各界的熱烈支持下,我們今年首次舉辦校園可持續發展雙週,成功建立及啓動一個平台以助推廣可持續發展和促進各方積極交流。理大亦不斷地鼓勵師生實踐平衡和健康的生活方式。

More importantly, we have been reviewing and formulating new policies and initiatives this year to drive a strong culture of sustainability among our staff and students with more visible results. These new policies will demonstrate our institution-wide and long-term commitment to campus sustainability by engaging the entire PolyU community.
理大不時檢閱現有的政策和活動及制定新的策略,務求在推動師生參與可持續發展的工作上取得更顯著的成果。這些新的策略和活動亦展示了理大社群上下一心營造一個可持續發展的校園。

Knowledge and technology transfer has been a key strategic mission of the University. Not only does it amplify the value of our research, but it also helps to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the industrial and professional sectors, fulfilling our mission for the betterment of the society. This year, with the establishment of the Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development and Sustainability Management Research Centre that focus in promoting sustainability through research and knowledge transfer to our community, I am confident that PolyU will yield fruitful results in coming years.
知識及技術轉移是理大其中最重要的策略使命。這不單令科研成果發揚光大,更能協助工商及各界專業提高其生產及競爭力,亦正是理大對貢獻及回饋社會的承諾。可持續城市發展研究院和可持續發展管理研究中心在今年已成立,通過它們的研究,知識轉移及向學界與工商各業推廣可持續發展,我深信理大未來年未可持續發展的工作上定能取得更好的成果。

About this Report 關於本報告

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (hereinafter “PolyU”) has published the first Sustainability Report, “Education • Technology • Sustainability” in 2011/12. This year, we published an update to summarize our sustainability performance for 2012/13.
香港理工大學 ( 以下簡稱「理大」) 在2011/12年度出版了第一份可持續發展報告 — 《教育 • 科技 • 可持續發展》。今年,理大欣然製作進展匯報,總結本校於2012/13年度的可持續發展績效。

This Report covers the fiscal year 2012/13 from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013. The scope of this Report includes the Hung Hom Main Campus (including Phase 8 Campus) 1 , Student Halls of Residence in Hung Hom and Homantin, and the two extended campuses in Hung Hom Bay and West Kowloon under the College of Professional and Continuing Education (hereinafter “CPCE”) . During the reporting period, there is no significant change with regard to PolyU’s organization size, structure and ownership. Data and statistics in this Report are presented as absolute figures and are normalized into comparable terms where appropriate and practicable. 2

About PolyU 關於理大

As one of the government-funded tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, PolyU offers a wide range of taught and research programmes at Doctorate, Master’s, Bachelor’s degrees and Higher Diploma levels. Starting from its early days as the Hong Kong Government Trade School in 1937 and thriving with the full status of a university in 1994, PolyU and its forerunners have produced about 340,000 accumulatively as of the year 2012/13 graduates. In 2002, PolyU established CPCE to oversee the operation of two self-financed education units, including Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).
作為香港其中一所政府資助的高等院校,理大提供多類博士、碩士、學士及高級文憑的授課式和研究課程。自1937年創辦香港官立高級工業學院及1994年正式升格為大學以來,直至2012/13年度,畢業生人數累積約達340,000之眾。2002年,理大設立專業及持續教育學院,管理轄下兩個以自負盈虧模式運作的教學單位,包括香港專上學院及專業進修學院。

3.1 Recognition on Sustainable Campus 可持續校園屢獲肯定

PolyU endeavors to build and operate campus in an environmentally sustainable manner. Also, as a responsible and caring employer, PolyU strives to maintain satisfactory Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for staff and students.

Student Halls of Residence (Homantin) is the first student hostel among the local universities to receive the Hong Kong BEAM Platinum Award.

3.3 Establishing Sustainability-related Research Units 成立與可持續發展相關的研究單位

Sustainability is an important strategic focus of PolyU which is promoted through knowledge transfer. In 2012, the Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development (RISUD) was established aiming to develop innovative solutions for sustainable high-density cities and turn PolyU into a world-class centre of excellence for research and technology transfer in the field of sustainable urban development. Later in 2013, Faculty of Business established the Sustainability Management Research Centre to promote business sustainability through research and transfer of knowledge to the business community.
可持續發展是理大的策略發展重點,並通過知識轉移向社會的持續發展作出貢獻。2012年,理大成立可持續城市發展研究院,專門為高密度城市發展產生的問題提供可持續發展的方案,致力將理大打造成該領域的世界級研究及技術轉移中心。2013年,理大工商管理學院成立可持續發展管理研究中心,通過研究及知識轉移向工商各界推廣可持續發展。

Sustainable Campus 可持續校園

Being one of the leading tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, PolyU strives to integrate sustainability into all aspects of campus development and operation, academic and research activities. Over the years, the University had invested a lot of effort and resources in greening the campus. In 2011, PolyU has set up the Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC) and through collaborations with PolyU’s departments and stakeholders, many initiatives were undertaken during the reporting period to advance campus sustainability and reduce environmental footprint.
作為香港主要的專上學院之一,我們致力在校園發展﹑日常運作﹑學術和科研活動等不同方面,加入可持續發展的元素。過去多年,大學投入了大量資源實踐環保,並於2011年成立校園可持續發展委員會。通過與各部門及持分者的合作,理大在匯報期內開展多項計劃,以提倡校園可持續發展和減少環境足印。

4.1 Campus Greenery 校園綠化

PolyU campuses have a total of over 600 trees. Green roofs were installed on buildings, reducing temperatures of the roof surface and the energy demand for air-conditioning systems. The Campus Development Office and Facilities Management Office have made every effort to maintain the green environment and proactively preserve and protect the trees during campus development.
理大校園擁有超過600株樹木,部份建築物更建有綠色屋頂,幫助降低天台表面的溫度,以減低對空調系統的負荷。為維持這優美舒適的綠化環境,校園發展處和物業管理處在發展校園的同時,也積極推行樹木保護和保育工作。

4.2 Carbon Emission and Energy Consumption 碳排放及能源消耗

As one of the signees of the "Carbon Reduction Charter" organized by Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and “The Hong Kong Declaration” prepared by the Hong Kong Sustainable Campus Consortium (HKSCC), PolyU supports in combating climate change, and endeavors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
作為環保署的「減碳約章」和香港可持續校園聯盟的「香港宣言」簽署者之一,理大一直重視應對氣候變化,並致力減少溫室氣體的排放和能源消耗。

In 2012/13, the electricity consumption of Main Campus, Student Halls of Residence and CPCE were about 75,000, 14,000 and 12,000 MWh respectively. Comparing with 2011/12, the electricity consumption has been reduced by 11% per capita for Main Campus.
2012/13年度,主校園﹑學生宿舍和專業及持續教育學院的電力總消耗量分別約為75,000, 14,000及 12,000百萬瓦時。與2011/12年度的數據比較,主校園的人均用電量錄得約11%的跌幅。

In Hong Kong, electricity generation accounted for majority of the total greenhouse gas emissions. In 2012/13, the total carbon emission of Main Campus, Student Halls of Residence and CPCE due to the electricity consumption was about 44,000, 7,900 and 7,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent respectively. We have reduced the carbon emission per capita of Main Campus by around 12% compared to 2011/12.
在香港,發電為主要的溫室氣體排放源。2012/13年度,主校園﹑學生宿舍和專業及持續教育學院因用電所引致的碳排放量分別為44,000, 7,900及 7,200 噸二氧化碳當量。相比2011/12年度,主校園的碳排放量以人均計算,共減少約12%。

Also, to minimize damage to the ozone layer due to the fugitive emissions from air conditioning system, environmentally friendly refrigerants including R-134a, R-410A and R407C was commonly used on Campus.
此外,為減少空調系統的逃逸性排放而導致的臭氧層破壞,校園內普遍採用環保製冷劑,包括R-134﹑R-410A及R-407C等。

To encourage the participation in energy saving, PolyU has joined the Power Smart Energy Saving Contest 2012 organized by Friends of the Earth (HK) and succeeded in reducing electricity consumption on Hung Hom Main Campus by more than 2% for a total of 92 consecutive days. Besides, the University also supported the “Hong Kong No Air Con Night 2012” and "Earth Hour 2013" organized by Green Sense and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) respectively to further remind staff and students of energy saving behaviors by switching off unnecessary lighting and air conditioning during those periods, no matter on campus or at home. Besides, PolyU has signed the "HK3030 Energy Saving Charter" launched by The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) on 3 March 2013. This Charter puts forth a roadmap to reduce 30% of the absolute amount of electricity used in all Hong Kong buildings by 2030, as compared to 2005 levels.
在匯報期內,理大參加香港地球之友舉辦的「知慳惜電–節能比賽2012」,成功在連續92天內,減少主校園建築物的總用電量超過百分之二。大學也響應了由環保觸覺舉辦的「香港無冷氣夜2012」及世界自然基金會舉辦的「地球一小時2013」,鼓勵同事和同學於活動期間,在校園及家裡關掉不必要的照明和冷氣系統,以進一步提醒各理大成員節能的重要。別外,理大簽署了由香港綠色建築議會發起的「香港3030節能約章」。該約章以2005年為基線,目標在2030年減少香港建築物的總耗電量30%。

To arouse the PolyU stakeholders’ awareness on energy saving, Facilities Management Office (FMO) displayed a series of new posters, notices and labels related to energy saving on Hung Hom Main campus. For example, green signages have been posted inside classrooms and lecture theatres providing all the green Forewords that have been installed, including energy saving light fixtures, occupancy sensors, CO2 sensors etc.
為引起理大各持份者對節能的關注,物業管理處在紅磡主校園張貼了一系列與節能減排相關的新海報﹑告示和標貼。例如,在課室或演講廳內張貼了綠色的告示,清楚列明所有已安裝的環保設施,包括節能燈具﹑感應器及二氧化碳傳感器等。

4.3 Use of Renewable Energy 使用再生能源

To reduce electricity usage and carbon emission, we have strived to adopt new energy saving initiatives. On the roof of Lee Shau Kee Building (Block Y) of Hung Hom Main Campus and the Multi-Purpose Hall of Hung Hom Bay Campus, PolyU has installed solar photovoltaic systems. About 30,000 kWh of electricity is generated each year, depending on the rate of annual solar radiation, equivalent to about saving HK$30,000 per year of expense on electricity purchase.
為減少消耗能源和碳排放,理大不斷採用新的節能技術。在紅磡主校園李兆基樓及紅磡灣校園多用途會堂的天台,均安裝了太陽能光伏板系統。視乎太陽的輻射量,每年可產生約30,000千瓦小時電力,約相等於每年節省港幣30,000 元的電費開支。

4.4 Waste Management 廢物管理

PolyU is committed to promote 4R waste management principles (i.e. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Replace). Various collection bins, such as waste paper, plastic, metal, glass beverage bottles, rechargeable batteries and printer cartridge etc., are set up on campus.
我們致力促進4R廢物管理方針(即減少使用、物盡其用、循環再用及替代使用),並在校園內設置多種不同的回收箱,包括廢紙﹑ 塑膠﹑ 金屬﹑ 玻璃樽﹑ 可充電電池和打印機墨盒等。

Glass beverage bottles are also valuable resources. In collaboration with Hong Chi Association, PolyU has started collecting glass beverage bottles from Hung Hom Main Campus since September 2012. All glass bottles collected on campus have been taken to a factory for the production of eco-blocks (eco-blocks are invented by PolyU). Other than relieving the pressure on landfills, certain generations of eco-blocks can help to remove pollutants from the air. From September 2012 to June 2013, a total of 1 tonne glass beverages bottles have been collected.
玻璃飲料樽也是寶貴的資源。我們與匡智會合作,自2012年9月起,在紅磡主校園設置玻璃樽回收箱,收集玻璃樽用作生產環保磚(由理大發明)。除可減輕堆填區的壓力外,部份環保磚更可以幫助清除空氣中的污染物。由2012年9月至2013年6月期間,我們已成功收集1公噸的玻璃樽。

Other than conventional brown-colored recycling bins, three Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) were also installed on the podium of Li Ka Shing Tower, Lee Shau Kee Building and Shaw Amenities Building on the Hung Hom Main Campus in 2012 for recycling plastic beverage bottles. Upon dropping a used plastic beverage bottle into the RVM, a complimentary coupon will be produced for redeeming special offer from sponsoring companies.
2012年,理大在紅磡主校李嘉誠樓﹑李兆基樓和邵逸夫樓的平台層安裝了三部智能塑膠飲料樽回收機,作為傳統塑膠啡色回收箱的另一種選擇。每投入一個塑膠飲料樽,會回饋一張具有現金價值的優惠券,可在指定的贊助公司使用。

To demonstrate the University’s support on food waste prevention, PolyU signed the Food Wise Charter, which was organized by Food Wise Hong Kong Steering Committee in May 2013. The Charter aimed to promote public awareness of the food waste problem in Hong Kong and instill behavioral changes in various sectors of the community with a view to reducing food waste generation. Being one of the signees, PolyU demonstrated the determination and commitment in adopting measures, setting up the taskforce and formulating the action plan to reduce the food waste generation.
理大支持減少廚餘,並於2013年5月簽署了由惜食香港運動督導委員會舉辦的「惜食約章」。約章旨在提升社會對廚餘問題的關注,鼓勵各界作出行為改變減少廚餘。作為簽署者之一,理大展示了決心和承諾,採取適當措施﹑成立專案小組,及制定行動計劃,以消減廚餘。

A series of environmental activities were organized on campus to promote the awareness of resource conservation during the reporting period. For example, the PolyU Staff Association (PUSA) collaborated with the Community Recycling Coop, a subsidiary of charitable organization Industrial Relations Institute (IRI), to organize Used-item Collection Campaign on Hung Hom Main Campus and West Kowloon Campus. All collected items were then sold to the needies in Sham Shui Po at very low prices.
在匯報期內,理大在校園舉辦了一系列的環保活動,提昇各持分者對節約資源的意識及投入。例如,理大教職員協會與非牟利慈善機構勞資關係協進會轄下的社區二手店合作,在紅磡主校園和西九龍校園舉辦二手回收活動,並以極低的價格將收集到的物品賣給深水埗內有需要人士。

4.5 Indoor Air Quality 室內空氣質素

The Hung Hom Main Campus is located in a busy urban area next to the Hung Hom Cross Harbor Tunnel with a heavy traffic load. PolyU endeavors to maintain good indoor air quality (IAQ) in our premises. All the offices, classrooms and library on the Hung Hom Main Campus were certified as Good Class under the HKSAR Government’s “IAQ Certification Scheme for Offices and Public Places” in this reporting period by fulfilling requirements of various IAQ parameters, including but not limited to temperature, relative humidity, air movement, and concentrations of air contaminants. A list of certified buildings can be found in Chapter 3 “Recognition and Achievement - Campus Development with Recognition”.
理大紅磡主校園鄰近交通流量極大的紅磡海底隧道。多年來我們致力改善空內空氣質素,主校園所有辦公室、課室及圖書館在本匯報期均參加了政府舉辦的「辦公室及公眾場所室內空氣質素檢定計劃」,順利通過包括溫度、相對濕度及空氣污染物濃度等多項參數的檢定,取得良好級別。有關已獲檢定建築物的詳情,請參閱第三章「獎項與成就 - 校園發展項目屢獲表揚」。

4.6 Water Conservation 節約用水

Water demand has increased greatly due to campus development. In 2012/13, water consumption on Main Campus, Student Halls of Residence and CPCE was about 594,000, 156,000 and 45,000 cubic meters. We have reduced our water consumption in two consecutive years by around 13% for Main Campus compared with 2010/11.
由於校園的發展,近年用水需求大幅上升。2012/13年度,主校園﹑學生宿舍和專業及持續教育學院的總用水量分別約594,000, 156,000 和45,000立方米。我們的總用水量錄得連續兩年下降,相比2010/11年度,主校園用水量減少約13%。

Realizing water scarcity on the Earth, PolyU has adopted a number of water saving initiatives on campus. For example, in new building designs including the Jockey Club Innovation Tower and Student Halls of Residence (Homantin), condensing water from chiller system is recycled as make-up water for cooling towers. Also, various water saving facilities were installed inside toilets including sensor operated water taps, water saving shower heads in showering facilities and dual-flush toilets with two different flush volumes etc.
水資源彌足珍貴,理大在校園實施多項節約用水的措施。例如,在包括賽馬會創新樓及學生宿舍(何文田)在內的新建築物,回收空調冷凝水以供應冷卻塔作補充之用。此外,洗手間也安裝了一系列的節水設施,包括設感應式水龍頭﹑ 設慳水花灑頭的淋浴設施和設有兩種沖水量的兩段式沖水馬桶等。

4.7 Green Campus Development 綠色校園發展

To enhance the environmental quality of campus environment, PolyU has incorporated many green Forewords for new developments including Phase 8 Campus (Block Z), particularly in energy efficiency, spatial arrangements, greenery, efficient use of resources, etc.
為了進一步改善校園環境,理大在包括第八期校園(Z座)的新建築物內,加入了許多綠色元素,尤其是在能源效率﹑空間安排﹑綠化和資源有效利用等方面更為注重。

The Phase 8 Campus is located at the north-west of the main campus, housing a wide variety of teaching and administrative facilities, such as classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, communal facilities, and offices. The Faculty of Construction and Environment and its departments, as well as other administrative departments started to move into this new building in March 2013.
第八期校園座落校園的西北面,提供各類教學及行政設施,包括課室、演講廳、實驗室、公用設施及辦公室等。建設及環境學院與所屬學系,以及其他行政部門已於2013年3月 起相繼遷入新大樓。

As a socially responsible organization, we are keen to foster a sustainable future with our stakeholders.

5.1 Caring Our Staff 關顧員工

In compliance with the relevant legislation, PolyU provides its staff members with retirement benefits through the University’s Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme and schemes under the Occupational Retirement Schemes Ordinance (ORSO), except for those who are exempted under the legislation.
理大遵照相關法例,透過大學的強制性公積金 ( 強積金 ) 計劃和《職業退休計劃條例》下的計劃為員工提供退休保障( 法例豁免人士除外 )。

Also, PolyU adopts award systems to motivate staff to excel in their work performance and to foster a sense of belonging among our staff. For example, “Faculty/School Awards for Outstanding Performance/Achievement”, “Outstanding Performance/Achievement Awards for Non-academic Staff” and “The President’s Awards for Excellence Performance/Achievement” have been introduced since 1996; and the Long Service Award Scheme has been introduced since 1990.
此外,理大特設嘉獎制度,以表揚表現傑出或成就驕人的員工,以及增進員工的歸屬感。例如,自1996年起推行的「學院特設傑出表現 / 成就獎」﹑「非教學人員傑出表現 /成就獎」和「校長特設卓越表現 / 成就獎」,以及自 1990 年開設的「長期服務員工獎」計劃。

5.2 Nurturing Our Young Generation 培育年青一代

5.2.1 Campus Sustainability Weeks 校園可持續發展雙週

By following the footsteps of previous annual Environmental Week since 2009/10, the Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC) and the Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO) jointly launched the first ever PolyU Campus Sustainability Weeks from 22 April to 3 May 2013 with a wider perspective in promoting campus sustainability. Having the theme "Sustainable Campus; Sustainable World", the Weeks intended to create a platform for sharing green information and enhancing PolyU members’ awareness on sustainability issues. This 2-week campaign consisted of a series of events including exhibitions, design competitions, seminars and workshops in which staff and students had actively participated.
理大環保週自2009/10年度首辦以來,反應十分理想。校園可持續發展委員會聯同健康安全及環境事務處在環保週的基礎上,引入可持續發展的概念,於2013年4月22日至5月3日期間,舉辦了第一屆的「校園可持續發展雙週」,提倡可持續發展的大學環境。活動以「可持續發展的校園; 可持續發展的世界」為主題,提供綠色資訊平台,加強理大各成員對可持續發展概念的認識。為兩星期的活動設有展覽、設計比賽、研討會及工作坊等,並得到同事和同學的積極參與。

5.2.2 Cultivating Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship 倡導企業家履行社會責任

To nurture socially responsible young entrepreneurs with the "Do Well Do Good" entrepreneurial spirit, PolyU launched the "PolyU Micro Fund" Scheme in 2011 to provide the seed funding for students and alumni to support their pursuit of entrepreneurial venturing. The 2012 "PolyU Micro Fund" awards presentation ceremony was held on 16 August 2012 at Hotel ICON and 16 business ventures for the Entrepreneurship Stream and 11 projects for the Innovation Stream were awarded.
理大於2011年成立「微型基金計劃」,藉此培育「有利且有善」的企業家精神,提供創業種子基金以支持理大學生、校友將知識付諸實踐並創立個人事業。2012年度「理大微型基金計劃」頒獎典禮於2012年8月16日於唯港薈酒店舉行。本屆創業組及創新組獲獎項目分別為16項及11項。

5.2.3 Launch of a Student’s Environmental Society 啟動與環保相關的學生學會

In 2012/13, “The Green Society”, under the management of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Students’ Union (HKPUSU), was formally launched with an aim of promoting local eco-tourism and green living on the PolyU campus. To echo the society’s main theme of “Waste Reduction” this year, their focus was on the problem of food waste and students’ eating habits.
2012/13年度,理大學生會綠行社正式成立,在校園促進本地生態旅遊和綠色生活。綠行社以“減廢”作為本年度主題,就香港廚餘問題和同學的飲食習慣進行探討。

5.3 Alumni Activities 校友活動

Alumni are also important stakeholders that support the development of PolyU. On 11 November 2012, Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) and Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA) jointly organized the PolyU Alumni Homecoming Fiesta on PolyU campus. About 4,500 PolyU alumni, students, staff and their families and friends joined the event. As one of the major 75th Anniversary celebratory events of PolyU, the Fiesta Forewordd a wide array of activities including exhibitions, talks, games, workshops, guided tours and sports tournaments which were grouped under six themes, including "Green Impact", "Innovation and Technology", "Knowledge Transfer", "Community Services", "Vitality and Sports Talents", and "Campus – Now and Then". Some environmentally friendly activities like Campus Gardening Workshop, Campus Tree Appreciation Tour and Green Exhibitions had been arranged with the aim of building a greener PolyU campus.
校友是理大其中最重要的持分者,一直支持大學的發展。校友事務及拓展處與理大校友會聯會於2012年11月11日在校園舉行「2012理大校友日」。活動有接近4,500位校友、學生、教職員、及其家人朋友參加。作為理大慶祝建校75周年主要活動之一,大會環繞「環保動力」、「創新科技」、「傳承知識」、「服務社會」、「體藝博覽」及「校園今昔」六個主題,舉辦了一系列活動,包括展覽、專題講座、遊戲、工作坊、校園導賞團及體育比賽等,其中的綠色工作坊﹑ 校園樹木導賞團及綠色創意展覽更讓校友一起綠化校園,為推動環保出一分力。

5.4 Involvement in the Community社區參與

The "RecycleBANK Fun Fair" held on 18 August 2012 was jointly organized by PolyU and J.P. Morgan to roll out the message about the importance of green living and recycling to the wider local community. The Fair Forewordd a wide array of activities including educational games, workshops, performances and exhibition, etc. About 1,000 participants, including children, youngsters, parents and the elderly, participated in the event.
2012年8月18日,理大和摩根大通攜手合作舉行「環保回收嘉年華2012」,向社區推廣綠色生活和循環再用的重要性。嘉年華的活動包羅萬有,包括益智遊戲﹑ 工作坊﹑ 表演和展覽等。當日有約1000位參與者,當中包括兒童、青少年、家長和長者。

Sustainable Seafood Week 2015 and Sustainable Seafood Guide

Sustainable seafood refers to the seafood that is either wild caught or farmed in a manner that meets the demands of today while not damaging a fishery’s ability to provide the same function to future generations Note. According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)’s consumer survey revealed in late 2014, a primary challenge for consumers is to locate and purchase sustainable seafood.

To encourage the public to adopt sustainable seafood in their meals, WWF-Hong Kong has launched the “Sustainable Seafood Week” during the period from 27 June to 5 July 2015. Over 100 restaurants used sustainable seafood to prepare Ocean Friendly Menus. In addition, a series of activities were organized, such as Sustainable Seafood Photo Competition and Panda Flash Mob. Also, WWF-Hong Kong published Sustainable Seafood Guide with the aim of helping individuals and businesses choose sustainable seafood and avoid unsustainable seafood products.
