(17 December 2013) PolyU received the Certificate of Appreciation at Food Wise Hong Kong Steering Committee First Anniversary Ceremony

Certificate of Appreciation to PolyUOn 17 December 2013, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), one of the signees of the Food Wise Charter in the Food Wise Hong Kong (FWHK) Campaign received the certificate of appreciation at Food Wise Hong Kong Steering Committee First Anniversary Ceremony in recognition of PolyU’s active participation in food waste reduction. The ceremony was held at Discovery Park, Tsuen Wan and was attended by more than 120 representatives from different sectors.

The Food Wise Charter under the FWHK Campaign aims to encourage the relevant sectors to put into practice food waste reduction in their daily operations. Over 320 organizations have signed the Charter. As one of the Food Wise Partners, PolyU has commissioned a food waste collection and recycling contractor, the Hong Kong Organic Waste Recycling Centre (HKOWRC), to collect food waste at all catering facilities on the main campus, HKCC Hung Hom Bay Campus, and Student Halls of Residence at Homantin starting 2 December 2013. Besides, the Catering Committee and Campus Sustainability Committee are planning to launch more promotions to raise awareness of food waste. Moreover, Hotel ICON has joined the “Food Angel” program organized by Bo Charity Foundation since January 2013 and also Maxims to help fighting against hunger and food waste.
