Speaking at the opening ceremony of Fashion Summit on 7 September 2017, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung said that the Government attaches great importance to the sustainable development of the fashion industry. Noted that the fashion industry has a massive impact on climate change and is closely associated with the wider issue of emission at the supplier and consumer levels, the Government believes the industry can help promote environmental protection through involving the public and rewarding all those who contribute to it. The Government will also support initiatives and technologies that constitute innovative solutions to minimize environmental impacts from the complex mode of operation of the fashion industry.
