Testing and Maintenance of Drinking Fountain

The quality of the water supplied by the Water Supplies Department (WSD) conforms to the Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality recommended by the World Health Organization and is stringently monitored through extensive sampling at treatment works. However, drinking water quality may be affected by the conditions of plumbing systems including the water tanks in the buildings. In order to ensure water quality is safe for consumption on campus including some off-campus buildings which are under our maintenance, FMO makes every attempt to maintain the quality of drinking water at the highest possible standard.

Besides making necessary arrangements in carrying out periodic maintenance of plumbing systems and regular cleaning of water tanks, FMO also arranges periodic water sampling test at water tanks and drinking fountains to keep monitoring of water quality.

FMO, taking the advice from HSEO, has established the water test parameters and standards. A reputable specialist contractor was commissioned to carry out the water test. Upon completion of each test, the test results will be sent to FMO which will be copied to HSEO for monitoring purpose. Through the aforesaid programme, our users can enjoy safe consumption of potable water.
