| Research Grants Council Members Visit Faculty | ||
Ten representatives from the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong (RGC) visited the Faculty on 11 June 2009. The 10 RGC representatives who visited us constituted one of the seven sub-groups visiting the University on the same day to familiarize themselves with research in the University. The group that visited us attended research project presentations as well as a display of posters and publications before touring our research facilities. Members of the RGC Business Studies Panel had discussions with small groups of academics and research students from the schools and departments in the Faculty. |

| Management and Marketing Students are the Champion in the Project CG Business Competition | ||
A team of 6 Year III students in the Department of Management and Marketing won the championship of Project CG, a six-month business competition hosted by CosmoGIRL, a local magazine of the SCMP Group. The competition involved six tasks. The winners came in first in three of the tasks and were rated the best among the more than 70 groups of undergraduate competitors. The last task that the team had to perform was to organize a mini concert to raise funds for victims of the May 2008 earthquake in Sichuan. The team collected the cash prize of HK$60,000 on 3 June 2009. |

| Accounting and Finance Students Win Hong Kong Securities Institute Scholarship | ||
A total of nine students from the School of Accounting and Finance won the HKSI (Hong Kong Securities Institute) Scholarship at the presentation ceremony held on 25 May 2009. Three of the students were in the graduating class. They are Ms Li Linpeng, Ms Ma Sin Po and Ms Zhu Ruili . The other winners, who were Year II students, are Ms Dai Yujie, Ms Ge Li, Ms Liu Hanbing, Ms Liu Min, Mr Sun Xunzhi and Mr Wang Ke. |

| PolyU Team Secures Fourth Place in the Global Management Challenge | ||
Ms Xu Yinglei and Mr Lin Zhongheng from the School of Accounting and Finance and Mr Liang Chao from the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering took the fourth place in finals of the international Global Management Challenge. The Global Management Challenge is an international strategy and management competition for university students and company managers. The competition drew approximately 20,000 participants from 30 countries. The prizes were presented at a ceremony held on 23 April 2009 in Lisbon, Portugal, the birthplace of this international competition which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. |

| DBA Seminar: Comparative Perspectives on Corporate Social and Environmental Practices | ||
The Graduate School of Business held a corporate social responsibility seminar offering Comparative Perspectives on Corporate Social and Environmental Practices for its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) students and alumni on 12 June 2009. The speakers were Professor Tania Casado from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Professor Carolyn Egri from the Simon Fraser University, Canada; Professor Olivier Furrer from the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands; Professor Narasimhan Srinivasan from the University of Connecticut, USA and Professor Carlos Lo from the PolyU. |

| Guangzhou University Delegation Visits Faculty | ||
A delegation from the Business School of Guangzhou University in China visited the Faculty on 19 June 2009. The five-member delegation led by Professor Xie Ruhe, Dean of the School, included experts in logistics, engineering project management, economics, human resources management and entrepreneurship. The visitors and the Faculty looked into possible collaboration on research and conference organization. They were taken on a guided tour of our IMC-Frank Tsao Maritime Library and Research & Development Centre and the C Y Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies. |

| Faculty Students on Culture Tour to Sichuan | ||
A team of 30 PolyU business students as well as students from five universities in Sichuan and another university in Hong Kong made up a group of 80 who undertook a cultural tour of Sichuan, China from 22 to 29 May 2009. During the eight-day tour, the students participated in seminars on Buddhism and other cultural aspects of life in Sichuan. They also toured scenic as well as historical spots in the region. The group also visited Dujiangyan, one of the cities hardest hit by the massive May 2008 earthquake. The tour was jointly organized by the PolyU, the Sichuan University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. |
